I ran across this on flickr last night:

Wow! How inspiring! I just frogged my 1 inch knitted on my very first sock... so I need to get busy!

Can anyone say "OCD with too much time on her hands?"

They are nice, but clearly this person doesn't have kids or they'd never have time to organize them so well

LOL

It's certainly inspiring though!

Yeah, I'm inspired by the organization alone.

Wow! I have probably knit that many pair of socks over the years, but some have worn out, most have been given to other people - that is a lot of socks!

drool!

If I ever have enough hand knit socks.. the drawer will look like that my t-shirt drawer is arranged in chroma (ie by color)

the first thing I thought was "she must not have kids". Although I wish I knit when I was a project person. Endless hours on the phone and planes...sigh.

Wow. That's a ton of socks. I agree - no little ones to distract her. Or, maybe. I haven't ever made a sweater because they seem so "big", but when I look at the soakers/longies/shorties I've made - I'm sure I've made enough to equal several sweaters. So, maybe if you only knit socks and nothing else ...
They look nice

Even my DH was impressed

Wow!

If one were to do one of those "52-pair challenge" projects, just think....

Wow!

Wow, I'm truly impressed. It looks as if she's got a bit of an obsession - with pics of the sock pairs on the little sock modeling boards all laid out. Kind of weird... but that's just jealousy talking! I'd love for my sock drawer to look like that!

Actually...
I probably have that many pairs of socks... handknitted... And I have a 8mo and a 3yo. I usually find time to knit when I've got the 8mo napping on my back while supervising my 3yo playing, either in a park or at home. I just hang my sock project in a little fabric bag that is attached to a clip that hangs off my belt clip. That way I carry it with me everywhere and I can take it out or put it away at a moment's notice.

I just never have them so neatly arranged in my sock drawer though. They're usually in a jumble with a few missing their mates.

They're sock blockers, many sock knitters keep them on hand. I'd have a pair myself if I weren't such a cheapskate.

Also, I disagree with the sentiment to assume the poster has no kids ... if I knit nothing but socks, my drawer would look like that. I just have this little problem with attention span...gotta mix up my projects and yarns or I get bored.

Very inspiring!! I started a pair yesterday.

That is fabulous and inspiring. I can't wait to get around to knitting socks.

Holy toledo! that's a lot of socks. I only have about 1" knitted on my first sock (not a dpn person, switching to magic loop - lovin' that).

If you look through her pix it looks like she spins and dyes, too. Too much fun!

And I gotta say I get a lot of knitting done with my now 5yo around. I just keep the knitting handy and slip in a row whenever I can - have a few projects going and keep the tricky bits for when I have a few minutes alone (when is that? lol). And socks are so portable you could keep one with you all the time.
