I'm SO sick of the government, FDA, and medical industry giving out crap information to pregnant women!

Like...feta cheese being not OK to eat during pregnancy (there was a thread in the general pregnancy forum about this).

I've reviewed every cheese safety study from the last 30 yrs.

NOT ONE pregnant women has gotten listeria from feta (though there is one "alleged"). http://books.google.com/books?id=nK8...Q4Vt9U7w3txXK0

Just had to get this out.

And to think I bought into that while I was pregnant I gave up my Geek salad at my favorite restaurant for no good reason.

It's not just pregnant women you know.

This is the same government that tells us that eating 12 servings of grain a day is healthy, and that all fats are unhealthy. That heart disease and arteriosclerosis is caused by red meat and chemicals like aspartame, HFCS, MSG and hydrogenated oils are "safe" to eat.

When I was pregnant, I was told by the doctors: no soft cheeses, no seafood, no tuna, no soft-cooked eggs, no uncooked leafy veggies, etc. You get through that list, and that doesn't leave me much in the way of my favorite foods.

I did some reading and said to that. Kept my local, organic baby greens, my feta, blue cheese and brie, my shrimp, my soft-cooked eggs. The only one of their recommendations I did follow was the no tuna, I think.

Crazy isn't it?

The whole no soft-cooked eggs thing boggles my mind. I'm pretty dang sure that the eggs I collect from my chickens every day are safe.

Heh, aspartame. *shudder*

I'd drink raw milk over that crap any day.

OH! Anyone see the commercial for Cargill that has been on during the election coverage on CNN? It freaked me out BIG TIME. It was a litany of why I'm scared of the industrial-food-complex, and they were expecting people to be thinking this was a good thing.

yeah ! UGH! I get so annoyed that they won't let me buy whatever kind of meat i want - like bacon w/o nitrates that is also cut up by the farmer or meat butchered on the farm. Ugh! Have to find all the loopholes. I asked our local meat farmer last wk if I could get scraps from him for my dog and he said he couldn't sell meat as dog food w/o a license! So I quickly said "oh then it's just for me" and that was fine lol.

My mom was just getting after me for drinking raw goats milk while I'm pregnant... I get sick of other people thinking they know whats best for me. I told her the last thing I would drink while pregnant is commercial pasteurized milk, even if it is organic.

Right after they told me not to eat feta cheese, they told me they would rather have me eat aspartame and saccharin than something with sugar! I understand the no sugar, but no neurotoxins for my baby thank you!! Needless to say I did not tell them about all the raw milk I drink...
