Since we know that "Super nanny" Jo Frost hasn't been very breastfeeding-friendly on previous shows (forcing a mom to wean her toddler abruptly on one episode), I was suprised to see her little "tip for parents" on the show last night.
The episode was a family with twin babies, who were bottle/formula-fed. But before one commercial break her little "tip" (unrelated to the episode) went something like this (not a direct quote, I was sleepy so I'm writing this from memory):
She was reclined on a sofa, and said something like "If you're a new mom, you are exhausted from giving birth and caring for your newborn, this is an easy way to help remember which side to feed your baby from next. Wear a bracelet on one hand, and switch it to the next side when you're done. Then you will always know which side to feed baby from next."
I know, genius right
She didn't specifically say "breastfeeding", but it was implied. I was a bit suprised to see that as her "tip", especially since she didn't say anything about bottles or formula.
So even though I despise some of the things she's said & done, I have to give the show a thumbs up for sneaking in that "tip" that actually made breastfeeding seem like a NORMAL thing that MOTHERS DO.
