well I just took a hot shower and shaved my pits and ankles! I haven't had the courage to trim *down there* and probably won't bother for another couple of weeks...it hasn't gotten long enough to be bothersome and even after it does it's usually a couple more weeks before it gets itchy.

great day to have a baby! As long as my girl waits until I get my haircut I'll be happy to go into labor and have her today

although honestly it's starting to feel like she's applying for permanent residence. perhaps dh will be home early enough to dtd in the morning...

ETA: forgot to mention...my ankles went from being swollen from doing too much (like scrubbing down the walls) to being disgustingly swollen from being humungously pregnant. It's a bit funny (to me) that earlier today I felt like my belly was getting smaller and after my shower I'm SURE it's just gotten bigger. I feel ginormous!

I'm impressed by the shaving!! I gave up on all shaving weeks ago, although I may shave under the arms today as my primping for some make-this-baby-come sex this weekend...

I know what you mean about feeling ginormous. I have to have my husband push me up from a comfy chair, or I'm stuck.

Today is *not* a good day for my baby to come, as a) the labor tub liner and faucet adapter won't be here til saturday :, and b) after weeks of it being, like 50 degrees, there's inches and inches of snow outside, and i didn't even put the car in the garage.
My poor baby-- I keep setting her new deadlines: "Ok, just stay in until after Valentines." "Ok, just until next wednesday when the tub will be here." "Ok, just until the snow is gone, and Grandmom gets here...." She has been a very good baby so far!!

Well, it's 6:06pm here and I'm 41+5. I didn't sleep that well last night. I kept waking up with pain and hardness in my belly and lower back pain. When I finally got out of bed this morning I thought "I'm either sick and getting belly cramps or this is what contractions feel like." Sure enough, I looked up "contractions feel like" on google and this seems to be it. This is my first and I never had any BH so I just didn't know.

Anyway, they've been coming steadily about 4/hour now. DH borrowed a birth ball from school and I've been sitting on that. The house is clean and everything is organized and for some reason that makes me feel really good about giving birth. I'm just not sure when it's going to be. I guess maybe tomorrow which will be kinda cool b/c that's DH's birthday too.

Anyway, I'll keep ya'll updated and be thinking of me with my UC over here.

Teeny - It looks like Saturday might be it for me, what are you thinking?

Mornin' all! 39 today...got up at 5:20 to pee & decided that it was awake-time at least for a bit. Now I feel sleepy again, so perhaps I will head back to bed in a few.

Calebsmama - my ankles were so swollen last night I felt really freaked out. But I can't just sit around, TOO MUCH TO DO HERE! Waaaahhh...they do look better this am though. Yesterday it kind of looked like I'd tucked a golf ball under the skin of my inner right ankle. Yeesh! ...and DTD...wow. That is just SO not appealing to me right now but I guess I'd better force it...I mean, it felt good last time we managed but it was not an easy endeavor, and my belly's even bigger now...

Cicely- : here's hoping the little one waits til your tub liner arrives! I hear ya with the husband having to push you out of things...when the baby wedges into my bladder I just yell, "HELP ME!" and he will propel me out of whatever I'm sitting in, because it's too painful to stand up by myself to start the slow stumble to the bathroom!

Gingerbane...wow, : with your UC!! keep us posted...(I hope by Sat'y our apt feels mostly clean & organized...I think baby's waiting for that...)

Good morning ladies!

I'm in a fantastic mood today - and yes, I know that makes me sound bi-polar after all the grumping yesterday

I started to have some contractions last night, YIPPIE! Nothing regular but strong enough to feel like they were doing something and accompanied by some cramping. I'm at 40+6 today, we are supposed to get 4-7'' of nastyness tonight and I'm nearly ready (I just have to find some way to rectify this darn cat urine smell but that's first on the list for today!).

I have an NST today and ultrasound. I know the ultrasounds are very controversial but I'm okay with it and looking forward to it. My OB office is hell bent on the 41 week timeframe but I got them to allow me to go to 42 weeks if I did the 2 tests .

Calebsmom - I hear you on the swelling thing, my socks leave half inch divits around my ankles now and I can make a fist in the mornings - it's so weird!

Gingerbane - perhaps it'll be our turn this weekend

Cicely - I have my husband tie my shoes and zip my boots so I feel you on the ginormous thing. Yesterday, I was stopped at the mall 4 times by strangers asking the normal barrage of questions, "wow, you look like you're about to pop, when are you due (followed by a shreek when they hear I'm past due and begging for me not to start right on the spot), is it a boy or a girl, what names do you have picked out...." This week I told the baby she could come anytime after Thursday but today my latest caveat with the baby is, please wait until I have solved the cat urine smell :

Steph - It really IS hard to sleep well when you're this far along...such a catch 22. Try not to do too much though, as you know, we need our energy for when the big day finally decides to come around.

Have a great day mamas! I'll check in again after my appointment late this morning!!!!

Good morning mama's. Though I might have a baby last night, but it was just the trial run. We are expecting a snow storm tonight, so I am kind of hoping s/he waits till Saturday night instead!
Calebsmama, yay for shaving! I am not so motivated. I shaved for a night w/ DH a few weeks ago and all he can ask me is "what about that thing?" as he points to my yoni! I can't even SEE it never mind shave it!
cicely_m, I hope your baby can wait a couple more days!!!
gingerbane, as of last night my house is completely clean, I think that is why my ctx started!!! I can't wait to hear about your uc, I am excited for you mama! I really wanted my kids here for the birth, but I think that coupled w/ my husbands nervousness and a childs "uncertainty' off what to expect, energy-wise it will be too much for them to handle. They were either all over me last night or whining and complaining to get my attention. I can only deal w/ one marginally needy person while laboring and that will have to be DH, and my birth team will keep him occupied! It's already snowing here, and he just left w/ our oldest to go to the market and get everything we need to feed lots of people for the weekend!!!! I am so excited , I feel like we are getting ready for a party!!!!
Will check on you all again later mama's, have a lovely morning!!!!

ELV's Gingerbane!!

Today is my due date!! 40 weeks today. I went and had a massage yesterday and the massuse worked my labor pressure points.

I had contractions last night, I think they were at least 30 minutes apart. I would wake up, look at the clock, fall back asleep and when I woke up for the next one I couldn't remember the time of the last one! I think I had the last one around 4 a.m. Also started to lose some plug this morning. Wow, is that nasty looking...LOL.

But, I'm happy at least SOMETHING is happening, but I know this could go on for days. I'm hoping that she will come this weekend.

Have an ultrasound scheduled at 1:00 today. DH has taken the day off of work and he's already said he is taking me to the mall for some serious walking today. I'll check in tonight.

Still here, woke to a winter wonderland. Gotta take the kids outside, it doesn't snow much here in NYC!!! It would be a beautiful day to have a baby....

gingerbane, good luck today!!!!!

Woohooo! Gingerbane!! From what you said on that first post you sounded close!! ::: How exciting! Good luck on your UC!

I think it could still be Saturday for me, perhaps, if something gets kickin' tonight. I'm 41+5 today. Last night I decided to get in tune with the babe a little bit. Turned off the lights and lit some candles and sat on the ball and did some swirlies while trying to sort of tell baby that we're ready for him/her. I did have some of those lower level contractions, but I also did have some bigger contractions that seemed like gearing up. THe most powerful ones I've had yet! Woot, so I was pretty excited. Not painful, but certainly they were different. I only had them when I was in that zone (the powerful ones that is). I had several others last night that were less powerful but were doing something, I'm pretty sure, so that's good! We DTD last night, so hope that helps too. Still have one pineapple left. Does anyone know if shoveling snow brings on labor?: I'm willing to try that. heh
post #12 of 39
So, while I read the daily check-in, I often feel too lazy to reply! Here I am. Thought labor was starting up at 3 am. Woke with real low contractions, first time during this pregnancy I've been woken by them. Was up till 4 breathing through them, about 4 or 6 of them I guess.
Woke again at 5:30, not so much going on, got up with ds who woke early so dh could get more sleep before work.

I did dream about the birth last night, two separate dreams - one too strange, and I don't remember much of it. The second one baby came without warning or any pain. One second I was sitting the down, stood up and realized baby was half way out! This is the second time I've had a dream I had boy. We'll see!

Gingerbane, :::. It's so exciting to know you are birthing your child now, will be thinking about you lots today!

hello it's me again...i'm so nervous to get my haircut today...I don't want to end up with a bad cut.

I'm checking in too! Yesterday, my Midwife checked me and I was at 4 cm and everything else was progressing as well. She felt my baby's head and encouraged me to go home and walk, eat spicy foods...My In-Laws were on the plane and headed home by 1:30p yesterday and my mom is visiting to fill the gap as we wait for Our Little One. Oh, here's the best part...we're in the middle of an ice storm which has closed most of our city. So, I'm hoping to make it until tomorrow and not have to deal with the roads tonight.

Hang in there mommies!

i am 39 weeks today. something i never thought would be true!!!

i was 2cm at my first internal with my mw last night, soft and mushy with some mucous. really was hoping to walk the mall today since weather is nasty out. but ezra woke up with dried snot all over her face and seems to be getting a cold. so, we're just gonna hang inside today. ugh!

thank god for the weekend with a dh back at home. he worked in the office 3 days this week instead of 2. i hope the weather is nice enough to walk lots, get that babe's head down further, heal my toddler and have a baby! yay!

I've been coming out of lurkdom more and more here (well, just every day this baby doesn't show, hee hee). Good to hear there's some definite progress around here!

I have a NST and u/s this afternoon, because I'll be 41 weeks tomorrow and it's hospital policy - I talked to my doula this morning, and she sounds like it's no big deal and the midwife group I'm with won't be freaking out about results or anything. I have my juice ready to drink to make sure the little guy is wiggly enough, and I've been drinking even more water than usual (which is usually a ton, so now I'm peeing even moooore), with the hopes that the amniotic fluid check will be okay, too.

I've been sad everyday this little guy doesn't show up, but I think I'm feeling marginally better about it - maybe because my pelvis is all achy today and I can feel my uterus tightening up here and there? And my doula, she sounded pretty confident that I'll go into labor one of these days (not that my DH doesn't say the same thing, but like he says, she has a bit more experience with this, ha ha).

morning everyone!
I feel like lilyblossom, rather bipolar, yesterday I was in the worst mood ever and today is a happy day.

I had my landlord traipse people through my house for an hour and a half yesterday and it made me so anxious to have strangers looking at my stuff, and coming into my room. (which was where I was hiding) He had his first showing on Wednesday but someone came late so he scheduled another for yesterday, and now for tomorrow. UGH! He said with the first that he would probably only need one. I should have known! (this place is horrid, but it's cheaper than other places for the same amount of space and bedrooms around here)
In any case I hope the baby starts coming today so I can tell him no, and that he needs to wait until I'm good and ready. Although I suspect he won't be happy that I'm going to insist that no one comes by when I have a new infant at home. Oh well, not my problem, right?
Wow, sounds like there's a lot going on for many of you!

Gingerbane, thinking of you and wishing you a beautiful peaceful birth!

I'm 39+4, tired today. Also not loving this ice and mess where I am. I hope I am absolutely the only one of us who was outside shoveling show today. Dh has the day off work and decided that means he should sleep all day. He's generaly unsupportive this pg, but this is a bit ridiculous. I wanted to get a little snow cleared and at least the car brushed off (about two inches of snow) before the ice gets worse. I'm having enough ctx now and then to at least want to be *ABLE* to get out of the house to the birth center if it comes to that. I also kept dd home from school so wanted to let her play a bit in the snow, and she did have fun at least.

Yay for good haircuts!!!!

You know, I don't think it's fair that people in the March DDC get to have babies before some of us do.....
