I feel sorry for Sims babies

Ok so I bought The Sims 2, and these creatures are sadly flawed. The women have breasts, and can get pregnant and have babies, but not a single one of them is capable of lactating and they must all give thier babies and toddlers bottles. I wonder if the programmers even thought twice about that before making them that way. Mammals that require milk but can't make it - makes no sense and is very sad.

That has always drived me nuts about that game.. I want to do things the way I would, by golly! And no co-sleeping either, you have to have a crib.

My daughters have that game and my 8 year old said "Mom, the babies come out in throw away diapers and they have bottles! Why can't they have boobies?" She also commented on the cribs and that the babies needed to sleep with someone but they can't. I thought it was cute and good that she pointed out the flaws of the game. It has made her look at the other aspects of the game and question them too. At least my kids know that that's not the way babies are. I feel sorry for the kids that think that is the norm.

This is one of the only things I don't like about the Sims.

Somebody should make a patch for these things...anybody have programmer friends?

I agree. One time though, the husband got pregnant with an alien baby, but even if he's capable of getting pregnant you think he could nurse. Its odd and sad.

I have complained to the Maxis people several times about wanting my Sims to have the choice LOL

there is a hack to make them bf! if you go to modthesims2.com and do a search you'll find advice.

I used to play this game sometimes while pumping so it would bother me to no end that while I'm making milk for my baby, they're reaching into the fridge for bottles of sim formula : not to mention they can't sit down with the babies and only have a few interactions. at first I would always have them being held practically 24/7 and lovingly anticipating their every need. I AP'ed them!

however, after playing this game a while and getting bored with it I've done CIO (well, not too long!) and barely interact with them except to feed/change.

There needs to be a whole AP Patch... including beautiful non-bjorn carriers

I do like the fact that, even if you don't potty train them or teach them to walk/talk/etc, they still do it once they turn into kids... just goes to show you that you don't HAVE to teach your kids EVERYTHING in three days they will figure it out on their own.

Anyone ever use that machine that makes the bottles and babies glow, so they learn skills faster? It's SIMS DHA/ARA machine

Me too.

ETA: I just realised that the sims are crunchier than we think! They have unassisted home births!

There's a patch out there that allows you to breastfeed, but I never could get it to work.

I have the original version of The Sims and it's even worse. The baby is wrapped up in a blanket in the bassinette. You cannot even take the baby out of the bassinette or hold it unless it is crying. Then you can feed it, play with it, or sing to it. After you do these things it falls back asleep and the character puts it back into the bassinette and you cannot interact with it again until about 6 hours later, when it cries again and you can choose to feed it, play with it and sing to it. It will cry until you do the right things and then the character automatically puts it back in the bassinette and you cannot interact with it until it cries again.

You also can't carry the baby around, interact with anyone else, or do anything else while holding it.

Also there's no pregnancy. Your character asks, "Shall we have a baby?" or someone on the phone asks if you want to adopt, and if you say yes there's a poof and the bassinette appears.

You interact with it every 6 hours or so for about 3 days and then--poof--it's a child. No toddler stage.

I have the Sims 2 breastfeeding hack!

I forget where I got it from though.

I don't like that it blurs out the baby's head and the whole boob area. But it's better than nothing.

Didn't someone do a hack to get a nursing SIM? That basically replaces the bottle animation with holding and rocking the baby or something?

Programmers=SIM LCs!

All this talk of a nursing hack makes me want to pull out my Sims game again! I got so excited when Sims 2 came out!
Plus I have had a.baby since I have played it last and I have to add to my growing family.

Heh...I haven't played since I was pregnant-every baby I had got taken away by CPS So much for AP, I couldn't even manage to give them a bottle on time....Made me worry even more about my impending motherhood. But so far, so good, I'm not nearly as neglectful IRL as in the Sims...

I second checking out Mod the Sims 2, because if the hack is not on that site, they will know where you can find, or give you the skills to make the hack on your own.

I don't play the game but DH does. He thinks that the reason you can't BF or co-sleep is because it would make the game too easy. It's kind of funny and sad at the same time.
