Stuck in prodromal evil land...

Thread Starter
8 hours of ctx yesterday, some as close as 3 min apart.

4 hrs of sleep last night.

Ctx since noon today (It's now 9 p.m. and I'm still having them, ususally around every 10 min.)

Serious ctx, not BH.

Got checked at the doc this morning: 6 Friggin CM dilated, nearly fully effaced. Baby is anterior, chin tucked. No reason on earth why labor won't engage.

Exhausted from walking and ball-bouncing to try to get/keep things going.

DH and I are both FRIED emotionally and physically.

Please keep us in your thoughts tonight as we try to get through another day/night of this.

When will labor ever truly begin????!!

I'm so sorry you're going through this as well. But that is a LOT of progress! I've been going through the same thing on and off for over two weeks, and I'm still like 3 cm and 50%. Blah!

It IS SO emotionally overwhelming. Several days I've just laid down and cried and cried after being on the rollercoaster of excitement and disappointment and exhaustion. Hang in there! Try to remember to trust your body/baby -- at least in between the "come the hell out already, baby!" episodes.

Oh Emily, I'll be thinking of you and hoping to hear of your baby's arrival in the morning! 6 cent!?! Once it decides to to come you're not going to have long! I hope this ends for you soon. Have you tried listening to your HB deepening to get a rest? (I'm sure you have but I thought I'd throw it out there!)

s I feel for you I have been in prodromal hell for 2 days now. I hope that things get really moving for you and you are holding your baby soon.

oh emily! I've had ctx daily for at least 6hrs for over the past week. at my MW appt on monday I was 3cm, cervix still a bit posterior. I'm guessing I'm not effaced at all or she probably would have said so. I hope since you are so advanced that labor will come soon for you!

Emily - I completely feel your pain. I could have written your post and in fact wrote one very similar just a minute ago on the UC forum. Here's the link if you want to read it: http://www.mothering.com/discussions...d.php?t=852832

I will be thinking of you and hoping that things progress soon for both of us.

Oh crap, Gingerbane, I was about to go looking for a birth story
Emily, what have you tried to stop it? Alcohol, pulsatilla, water? As NOS said to me, don't try to push the river, it flows of its own accord- this labour will take its own path but you can nurture yourself whilst it happens and not wear yourself out bouncing up and down on a birth ball when you need to rest. KWIM? There is a reason why labour hasn't taken off yet, we just don't yet know what it is- but after baby's born, I bet you have a moment where you go "so THAT's what did it." My money's on a nuchal hand, fwiw...
You can do this. I hope you get some sleep tonight, ready to bring your little one out into your arms when the time is right.
