What if a retroverted/tipped uterus doesn't correct itself?

I'm starting to freak out a little bit. I have a retroverted uterus. It corrected itself by 12 weeks w/ DD. Now, I'm almost 14 weeks (will be on Sunday) and I think mine is still retroverted. What started me looking online about this was I noticed my cervix is sticking out of my vagnia a little bit. I started googling what that could be...I think this is called a uterine or cervical prolapse...not sure which and somehow I came across this being connected with a retroverted uterus.

At my 12w3d appt w/ my hb mw said she couldn't feel my uterus very well...said it must still be tipped because it feels like a 9 week size. She doesn't do internal exams until 16 weeks. She didn't mentioned being concerned. I'm concerned because I still cannot feel my uterus from the outside and I can still sleep comfortably on my stomach and I don't feel the baby bump. I felt the baby bump on my stomach w/ DD at 11 weeks.

I've been feeling the baby move for a few weeks now. So I declined the doppler as I didn't want to use it at all this pregnancy.

So when is the latest a uterus will correct itself? I'm worried now after reading it should correct itself by 12 weeks and if not, it's called an Persistent retroflexion http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Retroverted_uterus

I guess it's possible it's corrected itself now and I just can't feel it. But the prolapse has me a bit concerned as well...didn't have this w/ DD. I'll call my mw on tomorrow or Monday to talk with her about it but wanted to see what some of the other professionals say too in the mean time.

I do think that the prolapse situation seems more concerning than the retroversion. It is quite unlikely that your uterus will stay tipped -- where does it have to go but up? However, if your cervix is truly sticking out of your vagina, this is an issue, and could explain why you're feeling this pregnancy differently, because your whole uterus is lower in your pelvis than it was with the first pregnancy. I definitely think it's worth talking to your MW about the position of your cervix, and I'd start doing some serious pelvic floor toning exercises (i.e. kegels) to see if you can get those muscles to provide your uterus with a little more support. Good luck, mama.

Thanks for the reply Alison. I looked at my old chart my mw gave me from my DD and my uterus was still retro at 12.5 weeks. So somewhere between 12.5 weeks and 16 weeks it moved forward.

As far as the prolapse, I talked w/ my mw today and she recommened I have the Maya Abdominal Massage The Arvigo Technique done. She's very hopeful this will help w/ the prolapse. And after I checked out the Maya website I'm excited to have it done as well. There's a local mw who is trained in doing the massage. There also some sort of mat she wants me to lay on that I'm going to pick up from her tomorrow that is supposed to help.

Spending some time on Hands and Knees, can also help move the uterus forward. Are you very athletic? Some really abdominally fit ladies' muscles are so strong they hold the uterus in well into the 2nd trimester or more. I would be concerned more about the prolapse as well, but would work on getting the uterus up and out of the pelvis more(H&K) and do Kegals while in that position, to strengthen those muscles while there is no downward pressure on them...
