Cockroaches!!! HELP!!!!

Anyone know of a natural remedy for getting rid of cockroaches? (Besides cleaning and putting food away of course!)

My aunt sprinkles boric acid behind all of her kitchen appliances. But I would be scared doing that with children in the house. What about diatomaceous earth? That feels like powder to humans, but feels like broken glass to insects. It's supposed to cut them up if they walk through it.

Boric acid in a line around baseboards, behind things where the kids won't play, is pretty safe.
I've used DE and I have mixed feelings. I was afraid for our lungs (nobody has lung problems ), and my vacuum almost died... It did take care of fleas (and any other hard bodied insects) but, eh, I probably wouldn't use it again unless I was desperate.
If you can afford it right now yu can leave cucumber peels where the cockroaches hang out and it is somehow toxic for them. We did this all the time to get rid of palmetto bugs, aka giant flying cockroaches, which of course come into the house from outside.
Good luck! Boric acid is what I go for first for roaches **knock on wood, it's been years!

Where would I buy boric acid?

Any place that sells pesticides (Lowes or your local hardware store) has it.
It comes in like a big squirt bottle like mustard.
