Favorite Vaccine Book ??

I have Mothering's vaccine book and would like to buy another - preferrably one that explains both sides well, like the Mothering book does. I'm thinking about the ones by Sears, Cave and Romm. What are your favotires?

Thanks!

Books on Vaccination?

My search abilities must be shot this morning. I'm trying to find the list of books on vaccinations so I can start checking them out from the library but can't seem to find it. (Finally got my godawful fines paid off so research is once again afoot.)

If there's no such list here on MDC, than what are your favorite books on what's what w/vaccinations, the diseases themselves, etc.?

Romm's is my favorite too because of the remedies she lists in the back for all the VADs. Sears and Cave's are good if you want to selective or delay or both...although Cave's got me going completely for none at all. I've only read excerpts of Sears' and it may be a good starting point....it also is really good to have both sides' view. Neil Z. Miller's books are really good too, done by a researcher/reporter.

You can start with How To Raise A Healthy Child ... Inspite Of Your Doctor.

It is easy to read and responsible, written by a pediatrician who used to give vaccinations, Dr. Robert S. Mendelsohn.

May I suggest a book by Paul Offit, head of the CDC, who wrote The Cutter Incident, the true story of an early polio vaccine that gave a little CAlifornia girl polio at the age of 7, Anne Gottschalk, who is now 56 years old and living off and on in a wheelchair today. Her family hired a young attorney, Melvin Belli, who made a reputation for himself with this case and created a legal template for product liability cases to this day. The book is still written in favor of vaccinations, but it shows you how even the pro-vax gang makes huge mistakes.

I'm going to go ahead & sticky this since it comes up frequently. Books, Music & Other Media is the appropriate forum to host discussions about books. Feel free to discuss your book selections there or search for existing threads such as these:

Google's collection of digitized books

The Vaccine Guide: Risks and Benefits for Children and Adults

"The Vaccine Guide" covers each disease and its vaccine, providing difficult-to-obtain facts about vaccine reactions. Also discussed are vaccine effectiveness, toxicity and adverse effects, legal requirements, alternatives, and the latest information on the threat of bioterrorism. New to this edition are topics of particular concern to adults, including smallpox and anthrax vaccines, flu shots, and new conditions linked to vaccine reactions.

Vaccines have saved more lives than any other single medical advance. Yet today only four companies make vaccines, and there is a growing crisis in vaccine availability. Why has this happened? This remarkable book recounts for the first time a devastating episode in 1955 at Cutter Laboratories in Berkeley, California, thathas led many pharmaceutical companies to abandon vaccine manufacture.
