So I was in the dark about this - I guess because I wasn't a mommy in 2002. I have been looking on the internet and seeing all the old articles about her being in jail, but I can't find anything current. Did she ever get out? What a sad/scary/maddening story! (Here's an article in case anyone else is as clueless about this as I was: http://www.nationalreview.com/commen...iker120302.asp)
In a nutshell, she was a mennonite midwife who, because of a lack of laws in Ohio, was put in jail because she gave a mother pitocin to stop post partem bleeding after a home birth. She refused to give the name of the doctor who gave her the pitocin to use because they would lose their license, so they put her in jail. Very sad.
