What happened to Mystical Creation Yarns?

I just got an email from them saying something about closing permanently because she is sick. I hope she is ok.

Are you on Ravelry? There are a couple threads there about MCY not sending out yarn that's been payed for, sending low quality yarn, etc. That's all I know as I've never ordered from them before.

Holy cow the MCY threads over there are an amazing train wreck: yarn sent that was the wrong color (and not monitor differences, but ordering blue/green yarn and getting pink/yellow yarn), getting very tangled and in some places felted yarn, getting a yarn type that isn't what was ordered (ordering a silk blend and getting a cotton boucle), having yarn bleed tremendously....

YIKES!

From the sound of it (from the email) I'm not surprised.

A couple of people on another site said that they did a similar announcement in 2004, shut everything down, etc.
