Needle Felting - Page 2

So it took me a while to get an opportunity to try it out. I actually made a couple things. Of course my dog promptly chewed up the mouse but luckily it was easy to repair. I guess that is a benefit of needle felting. Here are some pictures. http://tinyurl.com/3dhwdy

I want to felt some spring eggs tonight as I got a kit and I thought that would be great for the weekend egg hunt.

Can I use any old foam? Should I stop by the craft store and by some? What about using scraps of leather as a backer?

Thanks!
I just made a penguin (I got the kit from A Child's Dream Come True) and I just set a three-ring binder in my lap as my backing piece.

It was surprisingly easy, actually.

My dd and I made a few Easter eggs today and it was easy and a lot of fun - and they are so beautiful!

Let us know what you think of the clover tool. I got a wooden multi-needle felting tool, hoping to stick w/more natural fibers but that safety guard looks dreamy! I need to make some kind of a case or something for mine, as for now I have to disassemble & put it back in it's box every time.
I looked at the wood one too, but was ordering from KnitPicks for the Knitted Farm Swap, and needed something to put me over the $50 so I'd get free shipping! They don't carry the wood one- and I honestly already have more yarn than I have time to knit...

So- it seemed reasonable to buy it from them!

I still haven't gotten it, but I'll post a review when I do!

how cute!! I love how easy it is to fix them, as well.

I made some eggs, too... but only one is needle felted. I'm half way through a needle felted chick w/posable legs but have kinda lost steam. We should start a thread w/all of our spring/easter felting!

Check out youtube. I found several felting videos there.

Okay, I think I love this tool! It's fun and fast and I don't poke my fingers! The plastic guard can "lock" into place to protect the needles and your fingers when not in use.

I'm not a huge fan of plastic, but this was a nice invention!

A few tips:
Watch your fingers
Make sure that your needle comes in and out at the same angle - otherwise you will keep buying neddles a lot
Have fun!
