freaked out

I really hope I'm worried about nothing here, but I have felt for the last week that something about my postpartum recovery has been off. I had my baby 2 weeks ago, and I started having a really sore abdomen about a week ago. It felt muscular, but I was still weirded out by it. My bleeding has been much heavier than with my two previous births, and though it has slowed down, I'm still getting gushes of bright red blood, which is unusual for me. Then I started feeling like there was something in my vagina, and just told myself it was my vaginal tissues being swollen, or clots passing, etc. Well, today in the shower I felt inside my vagina, and something is there that I don't think should be. I looked with a mirror, and there is definately tissue there that looks like part of an organ. It is totally covering my vaginal opening. My midwife is on her way over to look, and I just hope this is something simple, because we don't have insurance, and just paid for a new furnace. We don't have money for a hospital visit! I really hope I'm getting ahead of myself here, but I have a not so good feeling about it. Please send me some good vibes!

Does the tissue there hurt? I had some tissue left inside me after the birth of DD, that I found hanging out of my vagina in the shower...it freaked me out, but when I touched it it didn't hurt. I just had to gently pull it out. It does however sound like perhaps you have a little infection from tissue there? I don't know.

Okay, well, not the best news, but it's not too bad. My SPD is still causing some problems. My pelvis is so out of whack that it is pushing my urethra and the tissues of my vagina down and out. I'm off to the chiropractor, and hoping that this will be something that resolves soon. What a weird thing to happen. Well, atleast it isn't what it looked like at first- even my midwife thought it looked an awful lot like a cervix! I'm supposed to try to keep lying down as much as I can manage because standing and sitting makes everything move further down, and I feel a lot of pressure. Thanks for the good thoughts- keep 'em coming!

Well, I went to the chiro yesterday. When she walked back in with the x-rays, she said, "Well, I don't know how you are even walking." As soon as I saw them, I was totally shocked! I absolutely cannot believe how badly dislocated my symphesis pubis is. The chiro said she has only seen that level of dislocation in someone who has broken their pelvis. So it looks like I've got quite a recovery process in front of me. The good news is that after the one adjustment, the tissues of my vagina and my urethra are "retreating" a bit. It will be nice to get them back where they belong! I'm just not looking forward to having to take it easy again, which is pretty hard to do with three kids.

i'm so sorry it is a long process but i'm really glad you have already gotton results! i'm so very glad it's not a prolapse!! i hope your recovery is quick!

A simple bit of advice (if your midwife and chiro agree) can be to elevate the foot of your bed with a brick under each leg - helps things "stay up" while you are resting...
