So where is everyone planning to give birth?

We're planning our first homebirth

I'm so happy you put an "other" category.

I don't know yet. We are moving across the country mid way through this pregnancy. I'm hoping for a VBAC and to use a birthing center. I just don't don't know what will happen though.

I'm envious of your planned homebirth!!!

Unfortunately, I'm planning a repeat c/s at a hospital

I am stuck beteween midwife assisted HB and UC. I love the idea of an UC but in my heart I know I need the (emotional) support for a midwife.

I put other.

I'm hoping for a HBAC with a midwife, but am not sure the midwife will take me as a patient. If not, I'll have a hospital vbac.

Homebirth for me! Now I just have to find a mw! The state of HB MW in IL is awful!

At this point we'll deliver with a midwife in our hospital's birth center. I'd love to go with our local FSBC, but I'm not up to arguing with insurance right now.

I put Other because I don't know yet! It will probably either be hospital or unassisted.

Right now the plan is with a family practice Dr in the hospital. I also have the option of a midwife in the hospital. My insurance will not cover a homebirth.

planning a homebirth, if not the FSBC i used last time.

This will be our 3rd homebirth. #1 was m/w assisted. #2 was "accidentally" unassisted (I was fantasizing about UC but planned to have a m/w, who ended up missing it because it was so fast... so...)

I'm planning another assisted HB but with someone very, very hands-off because I looooooved the privacy of my UC.

We're planning on a birth center. DD was born in a hospital and although the experience wasn't terrible, I've always wanted to have my babies with the aid of a midwife instead of a doctor.

I'm planning to have a home (water) birth.

Okay, who are the other UCers?

I known since ds was about four or five months old that we would do a UC the next time, so I've had lots of time to gather my resources and 'prepare' and stuff. Now we're just excited. (No driving to appointments, either!)

We considered home birth with DD#2 because I had a horrific hospital experience with DD#1, but we had trouble finding anyone in our area who would do home birth and we weren't comfortable doing it on our own. So we went with a free standing midwifery and it was AMAZING. We are totally going back there this time.

Hi there!! I will be having a UP/UC this go around! Nice to see other UC'ers around here!
This is my second baby; my dd was born in the hospital attended by a midwife (medwife..). I'm SO ready for this!! Can you tell I'm a bit excited!

Well, looks like there are no HB mw's that will come out my way I will probably have a hospital birth with a MW. I would do a FSBC, but the nearest one is over an hour drive

Are you not comfortable with that long of a drive? For us, our hospital was 40 minutes away and even with a 6 hour labor we got there in plenty of time.

My dd hates that car, and anything over 45 minutes is torture in her mind. I have an option that 1.5 hours away, but that's too far

Also, there is no way in he!! that I'm comfortable with a man at my birth, so that rules out a practice called Homefirst.

Financially, we don't have the money to shell out for a DEM, so that's out of the question. Also the two that I have found do not do stitches.

I did have one that would take me, but decided she's once again moving, and can't.

I would have NO problem with a 40 minute drive. If I end up having a CNM at a hospital, the hospital is only 15 minutes away.

I *thought* there was a FSBC in Oakpark, but its a hospital birth center.
