That was my problem last time. No midwives in the area do homebirth, so we went with the freestanding midwifery in our area. It's just across the river from us, so we can do alot of the labor at home and still make it there on time (I hope- my first two are fast, I have a feeling this one will shoot out). I was disappointed at first that we couldn't have her at home, but I had a wonderful experience at the midwife center and there's no question that it'll be there this time too. Hope that's encouraging for you! I know it's disappointing when you're looking forward to a homebirth and it doesn't pan out.

I am totally disappointed, but still have a little of hope since it's still so early. Maybe some new CNM's will come out the woodwork~ ya never know. Please keep your fingers crossed for me!!

ETA: I have an awesome hb CNM, so I'm totally having a homebirth! I"M SO HAPPY!

We are planning for a homebirth, depending on if we can get a midwife who is covered by our insurance (I'm so happy our insurance actually covers homebirths!), if not we might use a free-standing birth center, though that's not covered by our insurance, so depends on the cost. But planning homebirth.

We are currently other too!

The last two were hospital births, last one MW and Doula assisted. I was hoping the third one would be a homebirth but I don't know if that is in the cards right now and the closet birthing center that is covered by our insurance in DELAWARE!!!!! An hour + drive. sigh

We are planning a hospital birth center birth. I'm really disappointed about it, but I can't afford a home birth and we live with my mom and she would flip out. There are no FSBCs within about 6 hours of where we live, so we'll have to drive a little over an hour to a hospital that has a birth center.

We're going to shoot for a homebirth!

We planned a homebirth with DD but transported due to major meconium staining (short cord & nuchal loop). She got the help she needed and is doing great!

So say a few homebirth prayers for us!

I'm going for my 2nd home VBAC

I'm not sure yet ~ I am really attracted to our local birth center. It's an old house with beautiful calm energy, a huge jacuzzi tub, and wonderful lay midwives. I am interested in a homebirth, but I think I might be more comfortable at the birth center. My midwife is great - she said I don't have to choose until I'm in labor! If I want to stay home she'll come there, or I can come to the birth center.
I guess I'll wait and see...

FSBC-for same reasons as Birdie!

That's why I'm doing the FSbc too. I'll still be able to go home within a few hours of baby being born and the place has a great vibe. It's an old house not too far from us. DD#2 was born there and it was fantastic!

Birthing Center, with a CNM.

HBAC! Planning on midwife assist, if we can find one that will travel to our small town. If not, UC. (Though DH is not okay with UC.)

hopefully at home

I'm undecided. It's so early! I chose 'other'.

I'm planning a midwife assisted homebirth, but educating myself on UC. It was about an hour from start to finish with DD. My brother was born at the hospital without a doctor present...he just kinda fell out...looks like I may be following suit!

I will hopefully be having another home waterbirth. : It will be my 3rd VBAC and we will be paying out of pocket because I don't believe my insurance will cover any of it.

No birthing centers in my area (within one hour drive), insurance won't cover home birth so it's off to the hospital we go...
Hospital but with a midwife. MWs around here do not do home births if you are going for a VBAC. I'm OK with that.

We don't get much of a choice. My husband is active duty stationed over seas so we have to do a hospital birth. They will send you home and have your spouse finish their tour over here (which for us would be another 2 years) if you give birth at your residence. If you want so spend extra you can choose to use a hospital out in town but I have heard worse stories about them then the military hospitals so we will be having ours at the Navel hospital.
