I voted other, I have been high risk in every pregnancy so I may have to have another hospital birth, im really hoping for a free standing birth center though, I should know after 4/8 when I meet with the local obgyn, if they give me the go ahead I will be having an appt at the mwc on 4/11.. I really hope to have a water birth (unassisted but with mw present if we need help)

Homebirth here. I had a hosp birth with K, and do not care to repeat that scenario.

i am not voting right now as i have no clue.

it is between a FSBC or a homebith. I am a VBAC this time around and depends on how much hell the back up OB will give me because I had a partial placenta abruption.

Well, I had an Ultrasound yesterday so I know I'm only having one so I can finally vote. I'm going to the Birthing Center and having a waterbirth yeah.

I had to vote hospital birthing center, as much as I would love to have a home birth, they not only don't do them around here, but no midwife would take me on, I have never had a preg. go past 37 weeks, every preg as pretty much ended earlier than the last, I have had two had to be in the NICU,and I spent the last 3 1/2 months of the preg with my youngest in bed and on meds for pre-term labor. I can only insist on having my own way as much as the hospital will allow.

I want a home birth so bad but, there are no midwives (that I know of) that will come to me. There are very few midwives in the province. I cried when I found that out. I'm seeing a family practitioner, not an ob, and will probably end up at the local hospital but, I am starting to flirt with UC. Apparantly, if I go to the hospital and my labour slows, I can't go home to wait for it to pick up again so my plan is to just leave going to the hospital until the last minute.

I'm having my first homebirth with a midwife. My insurance will not pay though so I am making payments.

Free-standing birth center. closest to homebirth that my dh is comfortable with - and we dont have to clean up the mess. LOL

I am a bit sad, as I will not be having a home birth. I found out that when I get my 20 week u/s to detect if I have placenta accreta, increta or percreta, that accreta may or may not show up, but the other 2 will. I have more than a 50% chance of it happening again. I thought about birthing at home then transferring and I just don't want to do that. After much reflection of Anna's afterbirth, the pain, the blood loss, I want to be in a hospital in case I do have accreta and can go right into surgery. This is not the hospital I gave birth to dd in. It is much bigger and you don't do everything in one room. L&d in one room, pp in another and possibly sharing a room. YUCK! I am a little stressed about it. But, for my safety and my baby's, I think this is the right thing to do. My only solace is the dr's and nurses are really good.

Ya know, you don't have to clean up the mess with a home birth either. The midwives typically take care of all of that. My midwives helped me into the shower, emptied the birth tub, started the laundry, cleaned the floor, and made me something to eat. It was fantastic!

Well, if they could do c-sections at home, I would be all over it. However, that does not seem to be an option, yet. I will be in the hospital again.

Well, I've changed my mind and decided on a homebirth! We're so excited and comfortable with the idea now. The birth center is pretty much like being at home, and it's only 5 min. from our house, so we decided why pack up just to go somewhere exactly like our house? I'm so happy about it, and I love that my husband is completely in agreement about it.

so true. we are having a home birth and the midwives told us at our first visit that homebirth does not have to be at all "messy" for the parents, they will do all the cleanup and laundry generated by the birth.

We are having our second home-water birth. : We are military living overseas and I am so thankful this option is avaliable to us! : my sons birth was an amazing, empowering, healing birth after the hospital experiences of his older sisters, and our loss of Isaiah. ^i^ 1-15-06

I actually can not wait to do it again, and our midwife has decided DH just needs to be the one to deliver baby this time...(her there to supervise, just him doing it all) I heart my midwife! : so different from the OB that laughed in my dh's face when he asked if he could help catch our second dd (even with docs hands around dh's hands guiding him)
