While daddy is gone project?

So my husband is a touring musician and goes out of town for a couple weeks at a time.He has been doing this for many years but stopped before our daughter was born and didn't start going out again until this last fall.So our lifestyle is not one that my daughter has known since birth.To help her understand when he will be coming back I've been coming up with some sort of counting project for her and her dad to get together before he goes.The first one was a paper chain.One link for each day he would be gone.Everyday she took a link off and glued it to a paper to make a piece of art for her dad.The last time he went they painted beads and we strung them so she would have a necklace when he got back.Once we did a bowl of chocolate kisses.

It's nice to have a different project every time he goes.Something fun to look forward to.So...Any ideas for this sort of project?

I'm interested in the replies... usually we just do messy house cleaning projects while papa's away, so he'll "have a nice clean house to come home to", without having to see the mess I make while I'm cleaning.

Well,I guess it sucks to be my husband because he comes home to a messy house and a list of projects to do.

Some kind of scrap book of what you have been up to. Maybe just fill a picture pocket hanging type thing (http://www.picturepockets.com/?gclid...FQweQgod2EZdeg) with a picture for each day. It could be a photo of something you did or something your DD made.

You could fill a jar with slips of paper with activities on them. One for each day he will be away. Then each morning choose something from the jar to do.

Make a dream catcher and add something to it each day.

I thought about a picture everyday but had forgot.Thanks for reminding me.They can make some sort of album or book before he goes.The only problem is our photo printer isn't working.Hmmm?Maybe a book she draws in every day.

I've been thinking about dream catchers lately but hadn't thought of that as one of their projects.
