Sorry I haven't updated in so long...last I wrote, I was writing from the depths of prodromal labor/despair land. Then, we had our lightning baby
and I couldn't find wireless internet in the hospital. Here's the quick version:
After 2 stressful/exhausting days in a row of prodromal labor, I went to bed Friday night at 9, determined to relax and stop stressing about the mildly annoying, but not "the real deal" ctx.
Then, at 11:05, I had a STRONG ctx that woke me out of a deep sleep. I had another 6 min later, and another 6 min later. I knew immediately it was time to GO. Even though it had just started, all 3 ctx felt like early transition ctx, and I knew that I was already 6 cm dilated at the drs office earlier that day.
I was overwhelmed at first because they were SUCH deep labor land ctx, right from the first one, but then I turned on my hypnobabies Birthing Guide CD, and though they were still hard, I was able to get back in front of them a little bit. It was definitely still transition, not some peaceful "hug" ctx
, but I was mentally in control of myself, and I contribute that, without at doubt, to the hypnobabies. It was night and day from my DS's birth in this aspect. I would definitely recommend the program to anyone interested.
So DH and I called a friend to come over and sit on the couch till my parents could get there to stay with DS, and were on the way by midnight.
We arrived at the hospital at 12:20. My doc and several nurses met us at the door with a wheelchair. It took 10 min to get to the room because my ctx were only giving me about a 45 sec break, and I couldn't stand to sit during them, so each time I had a ctx, I would stand up and work through it listening to my Ipod with the hypnobabies, and the doc, DH and 3 nurses would just stand by supportively, and then as soon as it was over, we would race down the hall with me in the chair for 45 sec. and then stop to do it all over again. Very comical!
As soon as we got in the room, I hit my knees and leaned on a birthing ball to manage the ctx, so my doc and DH just pulled down my pants and she checked me right there on the floor and said, "It's time to have this baby!!".
She offered to deliver right there, but asked if I would consider getting on the bed. I was fine that because the floor was dirty from our snowy shoes.
I got on the bed and pushed a couple of times. Baby started coming down, but the bag of waters hadn't broken, so she asked if she could break it, and I was ready to be done so I said ok. She popped it, and baby started crowning.
Baby Molly Ruth was born at 12:55 a.m. Saturday morning, after about a hour and 45 min of labor! She is PERFECT and I am over the moon in love with her

.
We are deep in our babymoon, and she is nursing like a champ. DS seems fine with her being here, and has adjusted so far just perfectly.
Can't wait to write a more complete story later, and to hear about all the other new arrivals. It looks like this weekend has brought a LOT of babies! Yea!!!
