Swelling?

I haven't had any swelling beyond a little end-of-the-day feet & ankles this pregnancy but a few days ago around 36+w my hands started being puffy too - sometimes it's impossible to take my rings off even! And they feel annoyingly hot, all the time. Anyone else? I'll ask my midwife Thurs but I'm hoping it's just one of the joys of normal pregnancy...?

I'm right there with you!

No swelling in my hands, but my flippers and cankles have been pretty bad for a few weeks now. Doc prescribed compression support hose (from the medical supply store!) and I wear them during the day as much as I can stand it. They suck.

Keep an eye on your face. My docs weren't worried about the lower extremities swelling (goes with twins), but they said if my face started swelling I was to call in right away.

Hang in there!

I have it too-swelling in hands, feet, and ankles and really hot hands. I just assumed it was normal pregnancy stuff...

Swelling here too...twins too...
My fingers are like sausages and my feet no longer fit into anything but slip on/flip-flop shoes. Only 6 days more to go though...

Normal from what I've been told. Hang in there mama.

Thanks for this thread. I feel better knowing I am not alone.

I've had hardly any swelling, then suddenly last week, POOF! My feet and ankles mostly, but my hands a bit too. Of course I immediately start to worry.

Yep, the swelling just got bad for me about a week ago too. Ugh!
Same thing happened to me last pregnancy in the last month. That time I swelled badly, gained 20 pounds and had my blood pressure shoot up. Led to induction.
This time, the same things are happening to a lesser degree, but thank goodness this doctor says it's normal and no rush to induce.

Yup, me too. I looked down and was like 'Whoa.... Grandma feet'. On the bright side, DH and I spent some time last night giggling over how ridiculous my fat little toes looked. So far my feet and ankles are still their usual slender selves in the morning (well, as slender as they ever get!), so I've taken to admiring them before I get out of bed. It's the only time I see them as the good Lord made them!

My ankles and fingers have really poofed in just the last week as well (I'm 36w1d). My ring is tight and my ankles are suddenly huge.

My left ankle is hugely swollen. My right, not so much, but the big toe on that foot keeps turning blue. No numbness, no tingling, and doctor isn't concerned, so I've decided to find it funny rather than worrisome.

Great, thank you everybody for the reassuring replies! Sorry there are so many of us dealing with puffiness tho ...I went to the pool today and just sat in the shallow warm one for... 1hr+20min!! It was wonderful and totally de-puffed me. I had to get out twice during that time to pee ...*a lot* - I really think it's true what they say about the water pressure massaging your tissues forcing the extra h2o back into your bloodstream to be eliminated.... ah anyway I feel great tonight. I recommend it!

Me too. It started just this a.m. and though I had it with pregnancy #1, it's kinda been freaking me out. My problem is that it's only in one of my ankles--I've been having a ton of pain/problems with my hip and pelvis on the same side so mw thinks my swelling may have more to do with the baby compressing something that's leading to decreased blood flow on my right side. Anyway, long story short, I've got my feet up today and feel a bit more reassured after reading this thread.

I feel like my hands and feet are a little tingly too. Not hot, more cold and tingly. Anyone else?

My wedding rings came off yesterday for fear of having to have them cut off I feel your pain.

oh yeah, swelling here too. I think the extra swelling has pretty much killed my hands. The carpal tunnel has set in and I drop EVERYTHING! But hey, just a few more weeks left right?!?

Yeah, I started to swell last week, then everything swelled up 2 nights ago. I happened to have my Dr. appt the next day and my BP was up, so they did test me for pre-eclampsia and everything came back normal. I figure it's one of those pg things!

My feet get so big I worry that the skin will crack. I have DH or DDs wrap my feet in ace bandages really tight for 10-20 minutes, to squeeze the water out, and then put on compression socks. I just have to do this if I've been on my feet a lot for a day or two and they get like they're going to burst. If I *know in advance* that I'll be up on my feet for a while, I wear the compression socks preventively. Keeps the feet from exploding.
