Hi, I lurk hear a lot. I have a coworker who's really into World of Warcraft (the computer game). They just found out that they are pregnant!

Any ideas for cute baby gifts that won't take much time? I'm looking for, like, a WoW baby hat or some such.

I looked on Ravelry- there's a WoW group there. It looks like most of the WoW patterns are actually just random stuff with a chart- I saw a backpack and a pillow with the same design.

Sorry, I don't know enough about WoW to really be helpful. Lots of folks made norberta, but that might not have anything to do with WoW... Lol!

Good luck finding a great pattern!

You could knit a murloc toy:

or

Or knit whatever you want and put the horde symbol on it (if they play horde side):

horde symbol is normally red on a black background

If they play alliance side, the chart is here:

I think a hearthstone on the back of a baby cardi would be cute:

(hearthstone is normally in this color: http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=8402648)

Anything with the word Epic written in purple would also do.

OMG!!! Those merloc toys are so cute!!! I dont think that I could do something that complicated. I've never done intarsia... i was thinking of using some of those colors and making some booties? Or would someone not get it?

If you don't want to do intarsia, you could probably purl the design instead of knitting it in a different color. You'd get an embossed effect. Just make sure you pick a yarn that offers good stitch definition.

Or it could be a great opportunity to learn intarsia...

Alternatively, if you want to make booties, you could probably knit them and embroider something under the sole or over the foot, using a contrasting color. Personally, I'd write Epic in purple. Or an emore like /hug if you want to be really cutesy. If you google WoW emote, you can probably find a list of all the ones you can choose from.

The purling is such a good idea. I know this sounds weird, but I feel it would be inappropriate to put too much time into it. We aren't really that good friends. BUT, he's been a big help to me at work, and I know they've been waiting for this a long time.

I'm just so happy for them, that I want to do (knit) something!

I LOVE this conversation! We're geeks at my house. Too funny! I'm going to try some of the patterns.
