Time for me to actually put my two cents in, and not just ask silly questions that I should have thought about first.
I tested GBS positive at 37 weeks with my first and was told "of course" that I had to have the abx, and then they kept us for 48+ hours anyway...
We got a really wicked case of thrush that I'm convinced we wouldn't have gotten without it. It took me nearly two months to be able to nurse DS without excruciating pain. If it weren't for the fact that I'm just so danged hard-headed and stubborn I probably would have given up nursing. Thinking about how many moms who aren't as stubborn as I am have been subjected to this REALLLLLLY pissed me off. How many women have given up on nursing due to labor ABX for GBS-induced thrush outbreak? Is it worth it?
Knowing what I know now... With this one we're doing a Hibiclens rinse since it probably won't hurt anything. The GBS is really the only thing that bothers me and I don't want to take any chances with it. I haven't had a test for the GBS this time since it's inaccurate anyway and we're having a UP/UC. I figured I'd just do what I can, and if something STILL happens, it's nothing ABX could have helped anyway.
