My sister in law is getting married this fall- and I really want to make something special for them. I am fairly crafty- but I don't have a lot of pictures of the bride and groom, nor do I feel up to making something huge like a bed quilt. So PLEASE give me some ideas! What would you make?

What about a set of wool felt Christmas ornaments? You can cut the felt, stuff them, and hand embroider them. Stitch them closed with the blanket stitch and embroidery floss. You could do a whole set. I had a Christmas ornament wedding shower the Christmas before I got married, and it was wonderful to have special ornaments to put on our tree that first year. Even now (8 years later!), I still remember each person who gave me an ornament when I take them out of their boxes and decorate my tree each Christmas.
There were ideas on Sew Mama Sew's blog at Christmas time. Let me see if I can find some links...

And, here's another, go down a bit to the felt heart ornament:

Just cruise around Sew Mama Sew, for that matter. Such wonderful inspiration for almost anything!

A cross stitch wedding record! That's my favorite gift for people who are really important to me. If you make a smallish one like this, it looks really nice framed along side their wedding invitation.

I bought some paint that can be used on porcelain, glass & ceramics. It is called Enamels I think. I paint lovely flowers, or just the couples names & wedding date on a simple, elegant plate & give it to them with a plate hanger so they can put it on the wall. My brother can paint anything if he has a picture to look at. he has made some paltes look amazing by immitating toile on them. They are fabulous! If only I could do that. I also like to make their initial hand-embroidered or cross-stiched onto a square of fabric & make it into a pillow.

I would make them something that they like doing in there everyday life. I love to bake and my husband loves to grill. So my MoH Made us aprons with our last name on them. I love setamental things. another good friend embrodered our names and date of the wedding onto hankies that we used in the wedding. I now have them hanging on the wall.

I would make a big beautiful wall hanging from fabric or from felt with a Tree of Life. Very symbolic and they can safely hang it above the bed(not like pictures with glass.) You can emroider it or use beads and fabric. Or, if you like to felt like me, then you can wet felt it.
