Oral Vitamin K Midwives Please

Thread Starter
Hi had a question for the midwives
If they've used oral vitamin K?
Where is a reputable place to buy?
Dosage for infant and how many?
I know their are conflicts on whether it is necessary since babies have diff. levels of vit k than adults but would like to go the route of oral just in case.
Am having the baby at the hospital and have heard they try to give you the shot form orally if you request oral and that is not what I want.
I have yet to speak to my CNM but she works with a doctor and in a hospital so I wanted to see how people differ.
If you have any positive or negative stories to share about oral vitamin K
please do so.
Thanks Maya

You can buy it at birthwithlove.com and I've also seen it at Amazon. I use it almost exclusively. There have been a lot of different studies using a lot of different protocols but I believe the one that was most effective was 2 drops at birth, another drop at 1-2 weeks, and another at 6 weeks for breastfed babies.

same advice as Nashvillemidwife

also have your CNM ask a drug rep-- in other countries oral K is readily available the only way that you are going to see it in the US hospitals is if people start asking--
