True story movies and books...

I like Pianist (both movie and the book). It strikes you even more if you get a chance to visit the places the book talks about. It's been a while since I read it though.

I was thinking about it, I enjoy reading/watching stories based on real events in general... So here I am, looking for guidance. Which true stories are your favorite? anything you'd recommend?

I loved "Me" by Katherine Hepburn. Her life story is very intriguing to me. I also loved the biography of Ansel Adams and Georgia O'Keefe.

If you want a great series that you can actually go to when you're done, read Anne LaBastille's "Woodswoman" series. She built her own cabin in the Adirondacks ala Walden and lived a very simple life, touching base with her real life as a speaker/educator in NYC.
