Mucous plug loss and time until labor/delivery?

I've started to lose some mucous plug (not sure how much is the TOTAL amount so I'll just say some of it has come out). Is there any correlation between how long after it comes out and contractions will start etc? I'm seeing mixed comments from people. What do you know about this??

I was only at 1cm yesterday, and I'm 37.5w today.

Thanks ladies!

Your mucous plug can regenerate. So maybe labor soon or maybe labor in a few weeks. I have been losing bits of mine for about 3 months now. This morning I lost a rather large piece though but its the second time I have lost a large amount of plug.

I lost a bit of mucous plug on a Monday with my 4th baby and didn't have the baby until that Friday, and that was only with an induction....I was so excited when I lost some plug as I had read that meant labor would start within a day or two...but guess I read wrong.

How's this for a range? I lost part of my mucus plug when pg with my DS at 32 weeks. I ended up in the hospital and home on bedrest for the next month because I had some preterm labor a few days after I lost the plug. Then he went to 42 weeks!
With my youngest dd, I had some bloody show about 2 days before I went into labor with her, but never saw the whole big plug. With my other kids, I lost the whole big mucus plug sometime during labor.

With my son, I lost my mucus plug at 38 weeks after a internal exam but didn't have him until 40+4 weeks.

With this baby, I lost pieces of my plug starting on a Friday morning and had the baby on the following Monday. I was having other labor-may-be-soon symptoms, too. Stronger ctx. some bloody show, etc.

With both of my dds I went into very active labor right after I lost my plug.

I started losing my plug on Fri and went into labor on Mon and he was born early, early Tuesday morning.

With dd1, I lost the mucous plug and had bloody show on Sun, went into labor on Tues and she was born on Wed.

With dd2 I never remember losing it,

Wow! That IS quite the range! It was not tinted or bloody, just more like an opaque (snot) colored mucous. Here's hoping I'm on the sooner rather than later end.

Thanks for your input ladies!!

I've never lost my mucous plug until I was in labor. It was the same for all 3 of my previous pregnancies. After hours and hours of labor, I'd say about half way through I lost my plug.

I lost mine (which was quite impressive!) on Tuesday afternoon, started having contrax after that and all night, stopped on Wednesday morning and now nada. I'm hoping labor picks up again soon!

I lost a bit of it 2 weeks ago but this time, it was so obviously plug and so huge that I wanted to keep it in a jar to show my dh (who said that I was gross for wanting to keep it )

With my first dd I lost my mucus plug 2 weeks before having her. My mom had gone on and on about when I got my "show" it would mean labor was very quickly around the corner. HA!!!!

DD1 - I never saw it, so I suspect I lost it when my water broke

DD2 - lost it 2 weeks prior to going into labour

This baby - lost it yesterday. No imminent signs of labour (just very uncomfortable!).
