Digital scrapbooking

Does anyone do this? Do you use a free program, or have you bought software? Do you print it out or just keep it on disk?

I am thinking the advantages would be:
For me, the advantages would be:
1. I'm not crafty, but I can handle the computer
2. I have a years' worth of pictures on my hard drive because I never print them out
3. With the baby, I never get around to scrapping because of the mess and clean-up factor
4. I could just save it on disk until I wanted to print them out

I've dabbled in it a little bit. I've done probably 6-8 pages over the past few years, lol. But that's more than I've done with paper scrapping, that's for sure!

For me, I have Photoshop Elements. I really like the program. And it seems like most elements you can buy online (if your'e into that) are compatible with that program.

I am horrible at printing my digital photos. I haven't printed any at all for nearly 4 years, actually. I much prefer the idea of just using them in another digital form by scrapbooking them, and then printing out the single page. (btw, I love the prices, quality, and turn-around time from mpix.com)

There's no way I can convince myself to do paper scrapping anymore. I absolutely hate having to get out a million different pieces, cut them, paste them, etc., and do the clean-up so that my kids won't get into it all. Much much easier to do on the computer - do as much as little in a sitting as you want to, save your progress, and walk away. Also, it seems a lot cheaper to me in the long run. Scrapbooking supplies are costly, especially to get a nice array of colors and patterns on a page. But you can get huge digital kits for only a few dollars, and sometimes even free!, and re-use them in a million different ways.

How do you print them? My printer won't do 12X12. mpix.com prints that size for about $5 a sheet. I don't know if that's much cheaper.

My friend does digital scrapbooking and she makes 8x8 pages. Then she found that she can send them online to sam's club and get a good deal on the 8x10 size prints. When she gets them, she just trims off the excess paper. I think she said that there were lots of free things online too.

I've been thinking about doing digital scrapbooking too. I love the idea of scrapping, but hate the mess and having to buy a bunch of stuff. I like that I could play around with things online and then print it only after it was the way I wanted it without wasting supplies. Plus I have an album that I bought 4 years ago that I did one page in and now it just sits in my closet. I should just sell the album and start over.
