Do Any Insurance Companies Cover Homebirths In Va

I am on medicaid but now they are making me pick a plan. I had tried for a homebirth but was informed that medicaid did not pay for them in VA. Chose a CNM that worked at a hospital and now the 4 plans they have gave me to choose from are not covered by my current CNM well actually it's covered for her office just not the hospital she works with because it is not the nearest hospital to me
So are their any insurance companies out their that are paying for homebirths. It's so crazy to have midwives be licensed they are licensed proffesionals for gosh sakes so why cant they get paid like one.
Had my son in washington state and did nto have any problem with medicaid. What is going on here.
Any info appreciated

won't they pay for the out of network fee? do they have a hmo type plan? in pa, the CNM's can get coverage with medicaid, but they have to be listed as a provider.

another thing you could try, if they don't cover homebirth, is to have them cover each visit, all the tests, the labor, immediate postpartum, baby exams, etc. They will pay extra for after hours, weekends, home visits, etc. This often comes out to be about the same cost as the homebirth anyway.
