daily thread 2/28

I've been awake since about 1:15 with regular ctx that hurt like yucky period cramps (It's about 4:55 right now). For about the last hour and a half, they've been about 5 minutes apart lasting about a minute long. I can't sleep through them, but I've still stayed in bed trying to at least rest through them. My MW is getting her stuff together and is headed this way to check me.

So anyway, I guess this is it!

As for me, I have no such hope. Last night, I started having what I thought were real contractions. I was so sure, I even finally got around to packing my hospital bag. Alas, when I sat down, the ctx stopped And I needed to sit--I had just finished doing a bunch of cleaning; I needed a break.

I've decided that the baby isn't coming b/c s/he knows I have too much to do first. So I created a to-do list with everything that needs to be done first. I got about half of it done last night, the "big" half (scrubbing floors, etc...), so I should finish the rest tonight (color my hair, dust, iron, etc...) As soon as I finish that list, I'm sure I'll go into labor.......

Today is my due date. I know baby isn't coming today, but that means most likely, for me, baby will be here within about 5 days!!!! I'm in the home stretch for sure!! I think I'm also having an easier time coping now bc I have that documentary interview this afternoon (which means I have to get some serious cleaning done around here after this LOL), my mom arrives tomorrow morning...so I have enough to keep my busy for a couple of days at any rate. Hmmmmm and I think I have to hit the mall. I have a coupon for Gymboree, they are having a baby sale, and you can earn Gymbucks....must take advantage of that before Sunday. I thought I might get to have the baby first but now it's getting close! We're having family pics done with DH's family when we drive down to FL and I'd love to find coordinating outfits for the kids...I guess I'll just have to buy a baby boy and girl outfit and return the one I don't need LOL.

I had a dream last night that I was having bloody show and got to start the daily thread today at 2am...imagine my disappointment when I woke up at 3am feeling quite normal LOL!!! It was so real, and I was so excited bc my baby was going to be born on his or her edd and I thought that was pretty cool!!!

Good luck with the cleaning, OFG...hope you're right! Cleaning-wise, I've decided I'm just DONE. I'm sweeping everything that's left into a big garbage bag & throwing it in our spare room, & I'll deal with it when the baby's, say, 18 or so.

& Amy, have fun with the interview & shopping! I woke up today thinking, "well, Amy better have her baby today or Saturday, since I want to have a baby tomorrow." I know the likelihood of the actual EDD being the date, esp for a first-timer, is pretty unlikely, especially when my signs are really really mild right now, but I still think it'd be cool. & I have to say, I'm finally approaching that "Ok, I think I'm ready to be done now" stage that thankfully hasn't hit hard yet. But the exhaustion & swollen ankles - yeah, I could do without that. Needless to say I would like to meet our little one!!!

Steph -- I went into labor with DS, my first, ON my edd, and he was born the following morning. So it IS possible. And I don't want to have my baby til Sat, so tomorrow's all yours!!!!

40 weeks exactly today!
I gave my baby a nice talk this morning about how 2/28/2008 is such a good birthdate, but she doesn't seem to be listening... maybe she's holding out for leap day, which is also so cool...
meanwhile, my mother is here and is driving me insane by talking as if i'm way overdue.

OFG...Finishing the "list" worked for me! We finally crossed everything off and he was born 2 days later!

Just wanted to check in to see how all of you are doing. After I posted yesterday about my 2 days of contractions, things picked up at last.
4 hours of active labor and our daughter was born at 5pm at the birth center, an hour after we arrived. Phew! I'm still in shock, don't feel like it's real. I"ll post a birth story some time.

Wishing all of you wonderful, easy labors... maybe even soon. C'mon leap day babies!!! :ELV

The baby is clearly a girl, b/c if it was a boy, it would be born on March 7th, my grandpa's b-day, since that's our boys' name. I'm going to go into labor at 10:00 pm tonight and have her between 3 and 5 am. It will work out well for my mom, b/c she will be in town tomorrow morning doing grocery shopping, so I'll have a few hours to rest, and then she can pop in

Um.....does someone want to let the baby know this?

Seriously, though, I said if it's a girl, I want her tomorrow, and if it's a boy, I want him March 7th (for the above-mentioned reason).

I love your plan! Sure, just give me your baby's phone # or email address, & I'll be happy to let him/her know about your plan. & then you can let MY baby know about my plan! Actually, my plan isn't quite as specific as yours...wonder if I should get on that! Actually, we have an appt with our midwife tomorrow at 1:15pm, so maybe I should go into labor at, say, 8:00 tomorrow morning.

Argh, trying not to set myself up for disappointment... but hey! Fun to dream, anyway.

I have my dr's appt at 2:30 tomorrow, at which time he wants to set up an appt. to induce me Monday morning. I'm not going to let him, but if my plan works out I wouldn't have to argue with him tomorrow afternoon. It would make my life SO much easier!

I'm "due" tomorrow. I just had a convo with my baby. I let her know that she ought to come whenever she's ready, and not a moment before.

I'm thinking I'm going to have a leap day baby and I'll have to name him Skip. Can't think of any other clever leap day names...

I scrubbed my floors yesterday and today I thought I'd plant peas, radishes and lettuce. If that doesn't get him out I don't know what will. My list is really short.

I'm so sick of the e-mails and phone calls. E-mails are better I guess. He's not here yet!!!!

I also realized I don't have any clean maternity clothes, I thought I'd be out of them. So laundry is on the list also since I have to go to the midwife tomorrow.

I told our baby the same thing...though I'm still hoping that he/she's ready sooner rather than later so that I can shed this water weight & walk without foot pain again! I think were it not for the foot pain, I'd be much happier to wait however long, because I'd be out walkin' around...but in any case, I'm quite sure the baby will come whenever he/she feels the time is right, no matter what my "plan" might be. I'm very much looking forward to it, whenever it is!
