We're having our first and I'll be almost 31. Based on my current age and spacing I think we'll probably have 2. We'll see how I feel after the 1st one.

I voted 5. We've always talked about having five kids. We were mainly joking but now that we're growing #3....hey, what's a couple more

lol

We want as many as I am able to have.. We won't ever be going on Birth control so we will always be open to more until menopause comes!! I am 30 now and am pg with my 2nd so we figure we can at least have 6 more!!! But we will never stop having kids bc we love babies!!!!

We haven't set a number.. We will go along and see how we feel after we have each child. We really love children and would like a bunch but we will see how I feel after this one..

I voted for a small army. LOL I just love kids and love being a mom and I can't ever imagine wanting to be "done!"

Popping in from the June DDC to vote! We are planning 3 but I wouldn't be too adverse to 4. Dp only wanted 2 and I have him talked into 3.

Warning: Kinda Long

I'd be interested to know how many siblings you have and whether or not that makes a difference in how many children you want to have.

For instance, I have two younger brothers - the middle is only 2 years younger than I and the youngest is 7 years younger. Our parents were divorced when the youngest was born (literally, we moved out 2 wks after he was born) so my family has thus become quite an interesting study in family dynamics. I think we kids are pretty typical in some ways but atypical in others - as the oldest (and only girl), I was over-protected and therefore did well in school and sports, went to college, etc. The middle was pretty much ignored, barely graduated high school, joined the military, dropped out, tried to go to take courses online, dropped out, and now has a child with his girlfriend. The youngest was doted on by everyone and now pretty much expects life to be easy. He probably had the greatest potential, but had a hard time graduating high school and lives at home.

Anyway, I'm sure the difference in ages and my parents' divorce compounded everything, but because our relationships as young children were so dis-jointed, I've decided that two kids, 2-3 years apart is best for us. Not to mention the cost of college in 18-20 years! I should also add that DH is nearing 50 so we have some concerns about future health issues (with the kids) if he waits too long.

Anyone else?

I am an only child, so I know that was a factor in my decision to have more than two. Dh was one of three (though the third was eight years younger than him and technically his half-sister, introducing weird dynamics into the equation) and while he says he liked it, I do wonder if it's actually the reason he's still open to a fourth after this one.

That's us mostly. I would use birth control in extreme circumstances (like if I had a child in the NICU and needed to preserve my milk supply) but in general we don't believe in it for our family.

To answer the child question, in my biological family (I was adopted) I was 1/4 girls. In my family that I was raised in I was 1/2, I have a brother.

I'm going with two, although I'd like three, I think two is what I can realistically handle

And, to answer your question Peachymum, I'm an only child, and I absolutely loved it! I never wanted a sibling. Also, my DH is 56 now.

I have one younger sister, 2.5 years younger than me. That's the exact age gap I'll have between DD#2 and new baby. DDs#1 and 2 are 6 years apart (DD#1 from first marriage). I always wanted more siblings growing up, so I think that influences my desire to have 4 or 5.

I voted for 4 because I think that's as far as DH will let me go

I am one of three with two brothers, each of us 13mo apart. My brothers are 13mo, 1week, 1day, and 1hr, apart. A bit of trivia there

My DH is one of four with two brothers and a sister.

I loved having more than one sibling, though I would have appreciated a sister to even out the votes (it was always their two against my one)....

I have a dream of having 6+ kids, but DH isn't keen on it

i voted a small army, I really want as many as I can get, Biologically and adopted. I grew up LDS and a friend of the family once told me that the second is hardest, because you double the kids you have after that it's all cake. I think he was being silly, but thats my story and I'm sticking to it!

Oh, i have 2 sisters one is 2yrs younger and the other is 7 years younger, mom always said that she felt like she was missing a child. and we have always had someone else living in our house, like exchange students, church people and the like.

I voted for a small Army, I never put a number on how many blessings we will receive

I voted for 4... I used to say 5 (a starting line-up for a b-ball team, I love b-ball and used to play) so I'm not set on 4.

To answer Peachy, I'm the middle child of 3. But my mom is oldest of 7 and so I have a HUGE family....30ish grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. I loved growing up with lots of family around! We are a very close family and get together often (not just for holidays). I want the same for my children
