I am looking to buy a serger, what one do you recommend and why? I would use it for seaming regular clothes as well as heavy fabrics for dipes...

I bought a Brother Lock 925D second hand from a reputable small sewing store. It came with a one year warranty and was about $100. It has served me well, and even through all the thick stuff I've made (dipes, pads, bathrobes, denims) I still haven't had to change blades. It is a workhorse, I also use it on thin stretchy fabrics all the time. I love my serger I told the lady what I wanted and she poked around in the back and came out with it... I really recommend going 2nd hand, from a Singer or Brother shop, if you are going for cheap but dependable.
