I am looking for a book that kinda breaks down what a child should be able to do / know at differnt ages -- but not in really general terms, i am looking for someing specific...

like

by 30 months most child know 5 colors and can count to 10

by 33 months most child know 6 colors and can count to 15

-- both for "learning" (letters, colors, numbers) also ablitites (stacking 3 or 5 blocks) and physical stuff (kick a ball, jump with two feet).

Mainly looking for the ages under 5.

I see books titled "what your 4th grader should know" .... i have never looked at them, but maybe something LIKE that only for the toddler / preschooler age group ....

i know each child is dastely differnt -- you should see mine -- but some thing .... ????

I mean we got the "baby wheel" of when they generally hold up their head or roll over -- again all on average -- but then you just get lost .....

Just looking for something ....... thought the homeschool mommas would be a place to start asking.

TIA

i have the above book the pp listed. i'm looking through it right now, and it's got some "milestones" listed - but certainly not worth the $$ imo. i got it from a grocery store when i was pregnant with my first. if you tell me your dd's age - i can post what the book says for free there is also this link with a 3 part blog thing: http://homeschooling.families.com/bl...ld-know-part-i

it may have some ideas for a preschool age (but it's not age specific at all), but anything you read regarding what your child "should" know i'd just take with a grain of salt hugs mama.

thanks

I think i own the book, and loaded it out, i am going to check. I think i bought it when i as pregant with my 27 month old -- or was givne it (we got stuff from like insurence and stuff) I know i have seen it

I loaned a freind some books right after i had Theo when she was pregant -- and that may be one of them, i will have to ask her.

A good book for learning under 5 is Slow and Steady, Get Me Ready: A Parents Handbook from Birth to Age 5, by June Oberlander.

If I remember correctly, it shows activities to do by week, including block stacking, ball rolling, and other things. The goal is to help development/milestones for your child.
