SabinaT - I am still in the "sewing squares and straight lines" stage, but as I work in a school am hoping to really dedicate some time to it this summer I did take some books out from the library...

LimaBean - I used this wording:

Hello all I am still having trouble doing striped things anyone have any suggestions.

Do you mean you're having trouble keeping the stripes lined up? Are you sewing a knit fabric or something with stretch? A walking foot might help if you have one. Maybe lower the feed dogs a little if you can adjust that on your machine.

Sorry for my ingorance.. Um its just regular fabric that I am using for pillows on the couch. I don't think they have much strech to them. What is a feed dogs??? I have an old singer. My problem is that I pin the stripes inside out and try to account for the spacing from one stipe to the other so whn I flip it open to the correct side of the fabric it suppposed to look pretty close to accurate spacing. Yet I allways amm over or under in spacing, but when I pin it looks right. Any suggestions??? Pherhaps I need to make a line to sew off of to keep it more stright??
