Pregnancy weight gain. - Page 2

I appear to be holding steady at about 215 thus far. I did, however, have to start buying maternity pants already because my tummy is pooching out and firming up. The waistbands of my regular pants are feeling uncomfortable. Strangely, I wear 2 sizes smaller in maternity than I do in my regular pants.

With my first I gained 35lbs, and my second I gained 31lbs. But luckily I have a high metabolism and lost weight quickly while nursing, so I started pg #2 weighing 6lbs less than before kids, and started this pg weighing 4lbs less than that at 115, which actually is not a healthy weight for me, I should be at the 125 I was at before having kids. I figure I'll probably gain 30-35lbs again this time.

Me. I gained 35lbs with DD but felt that was excessive since she was 6lbs 8oz and I have a very small frame. I ate a lot of carbs and takeout and probably not enough veggies. Yesterday I had a really bad day where I got takeout not once but twice!! Then I went to the groc store and bought $45 of healthy but convenience foods we cannot afford.

I'm already thinking about how I will lose the weight after this babe...I want to stay fit as long as I can through this pg and start working out again at 6-12 weeks PP. I don't feel like myself when I'm bigger and out of shape and I really resented that after DD#1.

We need a nutrition challenge thread...

I'm not concerned. I gained 40lbs with dd. I didn't over eat; I ate healthy; I worked out througout it; dd was 9lbs born 4 days before her due date (on time in my opinion since due date calendars are based on a 28 day cycle and mine is normally 24 days). Anyway, I lost it all (but retained a fluffy belly which dd still likes to squoosh when she nurses . I think that's just what my body needs to sustain a pregnancy. We'll see what this one brings. I'm more concerned with the 5lbs each year brings when you're over 35 - I'll be 38 next Thursday. I was starting to see some weight creep just before getting pregnant and had lost the 3-4 lbs. I don't know how I'll have time to take care of myself with 2, when I couldn't with 1!

Me too. I'm just so very upset today. I was actually going to post my own thread about this but I think we're in the same boat. I think today is just one of those days for me.

I have been obsessed with this as well. I lost 15 pounds last year, and really wanted to stay within the recommended guidelines. I've gained much more than I'd like already, even though I've been exercising regularly. I read somewhere that if you've lost weight recently your body might gain it back more quickly, but i don't know if there's any truth in that.

I gained 35lbs with my last pregnancy, and although I felt at the time that it was ok, any photos I see of myself that last month give me the shivers. Luckily, I nursed it all away plus another 15lb. Nursing gave me a normal-sized body that I had been trying to attain for years.

This time, I'm going to do my best to stick to about 30lbs. Well, if I gain it, that's ok, but I am going to be more conscious of what I'm consuming. Less fast food and junk, more healthy food. We eat better now anyway, and since I'm not working an hour away during this pregnancy (I'm a SAHM now), I won't have the stress from traffic and the desire to pig out at lunch with my buddies. (My buddy now is, uh, DD, who eats very little.)

Here's to a healthy weight gain everyone!

I didn't see this thread before I posted mine. I am so relieved that other mamas are feeling/going through the same emotions....

My concern about the weight gain is that I'll get too obsessed and then not gain enough...a tangled web we weave! yikes!
