2/29 -- Last Day of February!!! Happy Leap Day!!

Good morning everyone!!! Are we all still here? Did we have any babies yesterday or last night?????

I have something weird. The past few days, when I wake up my undies are wet. Like, really wet. This morning even my pants are pretty damp (but I'm not sweaty anywhere else...and the past couple nights when it was just my undies I didn't have pants on). What is that? I don't feel that wet during the day...I don't think it's a leak??? It's weird. But I mean I'm wet this morning. Do I call mw and ask?
Amy, strange you say that--my panties have been really damp every morning for the last week or so--except for today. Today, they're dry. And I'm worried that THAT means something (Clearly, I have no real advice.)

Alas, my contractions fizzled out last night. I even went to bed early, I was so convinced I was in labor and would need my rest. But no such luck. Here I am, 8:00 am, well rested, but still pregnant. Sigh. So much for my hopes of a Leap Day baby *sob*

I surely hope we're not the only two left, though!

Well I spoke to my mw and she's not at Steph's from what I can tell so I guess she's just lucky enough to be sleeping. Anyway, she said if it's my water I should be feeling wetter again soon (which I knew, really). I just had to ask her opinion. I've never woken up so wet before!!! She said it could be more watery discharge, or it could be the baby is getting lower and pushing out bits of urine. But man my pants were really pretty wet. And come to think of it, I had a hard time getting comfy last night, like the baby's head was lower? I couldn't sleep with my legs on top of each other (on my side) even though I wasn't using any muscles for the position...it HURT my inner thighs. I had to hike one over a pillow and far away from the other....head issues? I don't know. I just changed my undies and I'm getting a damp spot again though...we'll see. I have to pick up my mom in 2 hours!! Imagine if I'm in labor when she gets here! (obviously, DH will leave work to get her LOL).

There's still hope for a baby today, Amanda. It's early! Maybe baby is being kind enough to give you a day labor so you're well rested from sleeping last night!

OMG...if it IS my water...I could have a baby tonight!!! Crazy crazy thought....

Still sleeping...and going back to bed very shortly, after a snack..just wanted to check in! I've had pretty damp underwear, Amy, though not soaked...does sound like something, huh?

But what I DID have...I woke up very crampy at 2am to a big chunk of very bloody show!!! Holy excitingness...slept quite restlessly after that since I was feeling pretty crampy on/off (and feeling all excited, like, "IS SOMETHING STARTING NOW?". And strangely I'm not very hungry, either, which is new for me. I'm going to have a high-protein snack & then go back to bed - checked in with the doula & she said generally speaking bloody show is the beginning of something, whether it be soon or hours from now. The crampiness is more off right now...cervix twinging but the B-H or whatever they are have calmed down, so I'm going to take advantage & get more sleep. Hope this is the beginning of something... (insert fingers crossed icon...I don't know where that is on MDC!)

Had a long talk with baby last night, saying, look, definitely come out when you're ready, but Feb 29th is a cool birthday, as you know, since you chose it for your EDD! But we'll be happy to see you whenever you decide it's time...no pressure...your choice. So we'll see what the baby does decide. It looks like it's deciding within the next day or two, anyway!

ELVs & a big sprinkling of to everyone...Amy, we're seeing Miriam at 1:15 today (unless she's with YOU, I guess... )

OMG Steph how exciting!!!!!!! I'm jealous!! I'm once again thinking nothing much is going on, just all steps to the big event. I'd love to have the baby tomorrow morning...so labor away Steph!!! Take a nap then go for a walk! Wait it's freezing out...take a nap then do some jumping jacks LOL.

Okay, I have to ask: I've clearly not been checking in often enough to follow this all. Steph and Amy: what's the connection? I'm gathering that Amy's mom is Steph's midwife? Is that right?
Amanda - we have the same midwife! So we're trying not to give birth on the same day...we both want her at our births!

Anyway, just had a bigger breakfast than I planned - feeling more awake than before - maybe I'll force a nap, just in case. Thinking about "what if this peters out" has made me understand somewhat what other mamas have been going through. It'd be difficult not to be very disappointed if it fizzled. But we'll see! I'm assuming it will continue - positive thoughts, right? If it's meant to, that is!

I'll keep y'all posted.

So, next question: are we really the only three left? That's kinda bleak, huh? (Well, to me, anyway.)
Just wanted to say that I'm thinking about you mamas today! Yesterday was my due date, and Twyla is 2 1/2 weeks old now. I knew there was a possiblity that I would go to my due date, even thought I never did with my other two, so I am with you in spirit! Even if today is the last day of Feb, you will all have babies in arms very soon, and March is a great month for a birthday, too!
amanda, i'd be shocked if there are only 3 moms left on the last day od the month!

steph, i'm really excited for you!!

amy, i had 2 episodes of what you are describing and i still don't know what it was! it happened in the week before ds was born.
I'm still here!!
I was hoping and hoping that I would wake up with *something* this morning... but no. nothing. nothing at all.
so i went and got a massage as a consolation prize.
my good friend had an emergency c-section this morning (5 weeks early due to complications), so at least *someone's* baby was born on leap day.
I just wanted it to be mine!
Eh....baby maybe changed its mind. MW here soon, see what she has to say (not that she'll be able to tell when the baby feels like being born, but...)

La!
I think my baby might have changed her mind, too.
At this moment, it feels like I am never going to go into labor.
Just met with Miriam (MW) - she said things sound like they're starting, but even if they pick up right now, "no one's having a baby today!" She said maybe the wee hours of this morning, maybe tomorrow, maybe the next day...she doesn't think it'll be another week, though, anyway! So that's something!

Amy - she also said that even if we go into labor at the same time, not a problem at all! Since you'll be done WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY before me!!

Well at least you are on your way Steph!! Nothing much here, did get to the mall though. It's so weird though that walking doesn't seem to give me tons of contractions like it did with the others. Apparently, however, sitting down to eat out does. So hoping to go into labor tonight!! I can't believe we aren't having any leap day babies!

Just got back from the doc. Good news: he's NOT going to induce Monday. He said he'd wait until 42 wks, next Friday, but that was his cut off. I have to go in Tuesday for another NST, but whatever.

I get the impression that I may be able to get past 42 wks without a lot of finagaling. When he first came in the room, he said 42 wks was his cut off, but then later on, he said something like, "Have I let mom's go past 42 wks? Well....not for a long time." He said it in such a way, I don't think it's out of the question. Not that I'm going to let him bully me in to anything, but it's nice to think I might not necessarily have the fight of my lifetime on my hands.

I didn't bother telling him that I NEVER want to be induced, b/c I figured there's no point in arguing for another 4 wks if the baby's going to come this week. Take it a week at a time, I figure.

Stay tuned, folks

Thanks.
They are both fine. Baby's just over 4 pounds, and obviously in the NICU, but relatively strong and doing fine. My friend is also doing better-- she had pre-e and also liver problems, and they let her go as long as they thought it was safe, but had to deliver today... but she's feeling good, and just waiting until she can hold the baby!!! (She can touch him today, but can't hold him until tomorrow, for some reason.)

OldFashionedGirl, how do you feel about using acupuncture to induce?
I think that's my plan, if I go near 42 weeks...

Acupunctre is actual needles, right? Stupid question, I know, but a friend showed me an acupressure point (I think), between my thumb and forefinger. Anyway, I tried that briefly yesterday, but not much. I wouldn't be against acupuncture, but I don't think there's anywhere around here to get it done.

I told my fiance that if i hadn't had the baby by tonight we could try sex. I am SO not into sex right now, so that should give you an idea of how serious I am about getting this kid out (in a semi-natural way)

On, and one more thing: I've decided to tell people (ie, strangers) that I'm due next week. No matter how long I go, I'm just going to keep saying next week. I think it will be easier.
