There are so many options out there!!! UGH! I am leaning towards the infamous fishy pool because of cost.

What have or are you going to use with this birth!?

I had the fishie pool last time We'll probably get another one for this birth (The last one has been used as a wading pool in the back yard for the past two summers).

We still have our fishy pool which we got free from the community MWS, they got it as a tester and needed someone to test it so we happily agreed......

there is a huge post in the homebirth forum. it is one of the stickies.

but i know two of the possible 3 MWs have pools to use, one has a variety but said she liked the birth pool in a box, because it was a more oval shape.

I am unsure of the third mw, so i may have these questions too.

We used a fishy pool last time, and we still have it, but we're strongly considering renting an Aquadoula... because of the heater. If it works the way we think it does, that will help, because I had a really quick labor with ds, and didn't get hte pool completely filled (five hours, which isn't super-quick, but I didn't accept that I was, in fact, in labor, and not suffering from food poisoning (seriously!) until about 2.5 hours in...).

We are definitely going with the fishy pool! Totally excited

The Aquadoula is big but really awesome. We filled it 2 days prior and it stayed toasty warm with the cover on. The only thing is I am really short (5') and my legs didn't reach to the other side of the pool so I kept floating up so it was impossible to push in it.

Still, I think I would go with it again, just for the labor portion.

Well I totally appreciate all the responses, but I won't be able to have my water home birth. There are no mw's in my driving distance, that i'm comfy with and that meet my criteria (has to accept insurance, be a woman, ability to do stitiches).

we actually bought a rubbermaid 100 gallon cattle trough with our second dd and will be using that again for this babe.. it was awesome and not that expensive..i think we paid $60 for it and the tractor supply place..

I haven't decided yet. My midwife suggested that most women she's worked with rent theirs.

that is AWESOME.

I'd love to have atub to labor in but will probably opt not to, since my apartment is pretty small. I'll see how I feel closer to the end though.

For my last birth I rented a tub from my MW, it was so wonderful, probably a pool in a box. heated, squishy bottom to sit on 6 ft around. It was so worth the extra $200.00 I will be using the same for this birth.
