curriculum question

we are pretty laid back here but would like to get a curriculum package. any suggestions on ones that are not too structured. maybe something i can pick and choose from. any suggestions? or ones that sound like they wouldn't fit? i am more into learning through experience than through a book but i do see the reasons for having a curriculum especially since we live in ny and they are strict about what we teach.

honestly most prepackaged curriculums are meant for people who desire structure and they tell you exactly what to do (at least the ones i know of). what you describe sounds a lot like a unit study approach. have you considered that? just a thought

We are really loving Galloping the Globe. Basically you read books and do activities about different countries around the world, touching on the animals that live there, the culture/way of life, a bit of the history and a few key historical characters. It is Christian but it would be easy to leave out that part if you don't like it. Basically it's a list of countries and suggested library books to get about each, with a few reproducible maps, country flags, etc.

We supplement with Singapore math and some phonics/grammar workbooks.
