I posted the crisis in education post. If you have time, please respond with your advice. At this posint, I am researching other schools but it is late in the year to get her in to any of the "top" ones.
I am leaning toward having a closed parent's meeting (not advertising at school and at a coffee house or something) to come up with a list of concerns and drafting a letter to the director voicing those concerns- signed by all parents. This may make her a little less defensive and allow her some time to put some thought in the response.
The director did tell me that she would not be allowing students into the 6-9 program this year who were not Montessori students previously. If this is true this will be reassuring as last year she admitted three students to that class who either had learning disablility problems or behavior problems and no prior M experience.
This is a heartwrenching decision as I believe so strongly in the M method- it is a beautiful thing and I hate to deprive my kids of this. Of course, I also want them to reach their potential.
I value your opinion and love your blog!
Thanks!!!
