Calculating due date

I think I might have calculated my due date wrong . I took when I think I conceived (well it was definitely by then but possibly a couple of days earlier - I wasn't charting so hard to tell) and added 40 weeks. Is that right?

Actually I think that if you did it that way you might have calculated your date too late. The "weeks" in pregnancy weeks actually start from the date of the first day of your LMP. So when conception occurs, you are already considered two weeks pregnant. It's weird and kind of stupid. So for instance, I know that I conceived on Feb 9th. Right now I am *actually* only 3 weeks pregnant, but I am considered 5 weeks pregnant. My due date is around Nov 1st.

When did you conceive?

you can either calc from LMP or conception

but you would take conception +38 weeks

Ohhhh! That is what confused me. I conceived on 3 February - in fact this is exactly two weeks after the first day of LMP anyway. So my due date will be 26 October. I'm in the wrong due date club! So does this mean that according to 'medical reasoning' I'm actually now 6 weeks pregnant, not 4? Seems really odd to say I am six weeks pg when I wasn't actually pregnant for the first two weeks of that, it's like I'm cheating . So I would need to have the 12 week scan no later than in 6 weeks? I am going to the Dr on Wednesday in any case but it's nice to know.

No worries! Due date clubs aren't strictly enforced around here . You're welcome to stay here if you want (or you could post in both). My due date is Nov 3, but I will very probably give birth in October since it will be a repeat c/s.

Yep, you're six weeks pregnant!

I am posting in the October thread, too, so feel free to stick around

I have also posted in the October group, being one calculator gave me oct 31 and one gave me Nov 1st.

Hey that's when my daughter conceived! She got November 1st too!

Hmm, so depending on how I calculate, I'm due anywhere from November 26 to December 1 (so I guess I could post in the Dec club, too, but I think it will be earlier than that). Basing on LMP gives me the later dates. But I KNOW I conceived on either March 5 or March 6 (based on the sad state of our sex life and when I ovulated), so that gives me an earlier date. Anyhow, sometime at the end of November. Which means there's a good chance baby will come on ds/dd's birthday.

I have started wondering about the due date for my last pregnancy. My twins were born at 38 weeks, 5 days based date of my LMP, but now that I notice when I ovulate, I know I ovulate very soon after my period. So they were probably conceived earlier and were therefore "due" earlier. Which makes sense - all the ultrasounds had them measuring a few days bigger than my EDD.

Really, I'm so much less interested in due date this time around. The baby could really come anytime from 38-42 weeks, so there's a whole month window. Last time I was set on a particular date (my best friend's birthday was on Thanksgiving in 2001 and I decided that would be a good day to deliver). They were born 8 days later and that was the LONGEST week of my life, because I was mentally DONE. This time I just want to relax and not worry about it!
