We are officially moving, but now sure what the exact date will be yet. Sooner than later, hopefully. I'm hoping by minimizing our stuff, that we won't have a constant fight with clutter in our new, smaller space.

Yesterday turned out to be a day on the road, so no decluttering, but today we are not going anywhere. My plan is to do 30 minutes in bedroom, 30 minutes in basement and 2 loads of laundry.

I decluttered a bunch of stuff the other day, but MDC was down and I forgot now how much it was. I'll try to remember:

-- all of last year's bank receipts shredded (calling it 5, it was a big pile!)
-- several small, misc toys (5)
-- stack of paper from desk recycled (1)

I think that may be it.

Today's pickup:

-- blue storage bin
-- magazine
-- 2 cans of paint

So, I'm adding 15. 42/50

I am now 9 days overdue (but who's counting?!). I haven't started any bigger decluttering projects (like my clothes closet) because the baby should be here any day now... However, I am really itching to do something!!

I also just got rid of several "almost-finished" packages of pretzels, cookies, and crackers, by giving the dregs to the children with their lunch. Not the most nutritious meal, but they were pretty happy about it.

I'm in for 75 13-gallon 7th Generation garbage bags. I've reached 47! Purging cassette tapes will be really fun. I never listen to that 80s music anymore, and the sight of the Go-Go's makes me feel OOOOOOOLD!

I just did cassette tapes today, although there's a pile still sitting on the dining room table that need to go. It's so liberating!

So took a bunch of recycling yesterday.

Next week should be good, not babysitting so I plan to whip my house into shape.

So today was another day of getting nothing done. I get sidetracked way too easily. I'm not going to give up. Posting here WILL help me get on track. I won't be home much tomorrow, but I'm shooting for 30 minutes of anything.

I haven't gotten anything out of the house, but DD went through her game cabinet in the living room and is donating/freecycling two games.

I spent the day prepping and painting our downstairs bathroom, which I have been meaning to do since October 2007. We had our whole house painted in September and this was the only room I just didn't like. The color on the swatch and the color on the walls may have been technically the same, but they sure looked a LOT different to me! LOL I finally chose a new paint color for that room right before it started raining every other day, then I bought the paint right before I got the flu that lasted two full weeks. LOL Now, I painted two walls and I love the color!!!! The paint job isn't looking so good, however, so I need to troubleshoot that and get it finished. Once it is done, I will have a number of items I can toss, recycle, or donate...AND...I will be able to hang the new cabinet and towel racks, etc, which will free up space in our playroom. So, then I'll be able to get the playroom back to order! WOO HOO!

I don't really have time to count items, but I want to clear out my office. I took 5 BAGS of books to goodwill. I'm selling about five shoe boxes full on ebay...some of these sets go for 30 dollars used. I need to start using the library...this is ridiculous.

DD has been sick for that last 5 days so it's been a bit tough to get much done. We DID go through her dresser and cleared out the winter PJs (it's getting too warm at night for flannel) and those are headed to charity. Working today on odds and ends I come across as I'm moving through the house. Finding some VERY odd things. A 1lb. hand weight in the linen closet? DSs fishing lure in the PANTRY? Hmm.... "Hello, Son?"......

Aiming to get two more medium sized boxes full and ready for a drop off to the charity shop this weekend.

Off to work!

I'm so glad I finally got around to signing up for this thread! It's fun and inspiring to read about everyone's adventures in decluttering.


We just got back from yet another thrift shop run:

124 items donated (kitchen & pet stuff; DH's clothes; small toys; Christmas decorations inherited from in-laws)

and I also gave 8 children's books to a friend.

total outgoing items = 132, bringing the tally to:

509 / 2011

This is without even going near the garage or storage unit... and I've barely touched the "junk room" (AKA office/guest room). I think this will be a busy weekend!

I feel good about today. I did 30 minutes of stuff. Nothing major, but i felt like I accomplished a few small things. Baby steps. I do feel motivated to keep going, so I will get some laundry folded and put away.
