....and passed a lot of my surplus on to my mom.

Having relatives is great!

I haven't really gone through anything these last 2 weeks, and my count is out the window from what we did do! Hubby has been home from work and we've worked on building a new cabinet for our fishtank (with a bunch of storage underneath for games and puzzels!! the paint needs to cure for a couple days and then I'm loading it up and clearing out a shelf in the boys' room and another shelf in the plant room!

Gotta get back to the toss out... 7 full days and the rest of today! Wonder how much I can get done in these final hours of the race to a home of empty space!

Had a productive weekend. Well, to be honest dh played a big part in helping with some decluttering. Between the two of us we did about 2 hours over the last few days. Hopefully I can keep up the momentum.

: I'm over half way to my goal at this point. Since we're moving at the end of the week, I have to go through EVERYTHING to either pack it or let it go. I keep telling myself surely if I get rid of 800 items than unpacking and having an uncluttered new space should be so much easier.

I gathered all my bags and boxes for charity together by the front door today and plan to take them to a drop-off place tomorrow. I'll count them when they are literally out of our lives! LOL (The car isn't good enough for me. )

This topic reminded me I need to call the thrift store in the area where I plan to shop tomorrow to see if they take drop-offs. I usually schedule online for a pick-up from a different place, but I need this stuff gone by Thursday (friends are coming to stay with us for a few days) and there are no pick-ups available between now and then.

I didn't count each individual item but I got rid of 1 trash bag of clothes of mine, 2 trash bags of toys, and one paper bag of books. All to a women's shelter. Hope they enjoy it!

I am sooo frustrated b/c I went through and put together a humongous amount of stuff for a garage sale. I have big boxes full, plus some large items. The garage sale was cancelled b/c of weather and this was like 3 weeks ago. So all this clutter I was trying to get rid of is cluttering up my office even worse. I'm so annoyed b/c garage sales really don't start happening for another month. I almost want to donate it all, except for the fact that I could really use the money. So I've started craigslisting the big stuff like baby items. I'm hoping some of it goes that way. I canNOT wait to get it out of here though. I truly feel like it is holding me back. I guess since I still have it I can just keep adding to it and then hopefully by the time the garage sale does happen it will be anything and everything that is unused in my house!!

Only did about 30 minutes yesterday, but anything is better than nothing I guess.

Ok So I haven't gotten into the garage yet(Its been too cold!) but I brought a half a vanload to my sisters house for her garage sale! I'm also trying to finish up several projects that I have going on in the house. So slowly plugging along

I gave a bag of 10 baby items to a friend, and took 15 magazines to the recycling center. I also tossed an old shower curtain, a cracked crockpot, and a toy that annoys me so much, I couldn't possibly pass it on to anyone else (even though it still works). But then I took in about a dozen new items (new shoes, old jeans for a craft project, etc). So my new total is:

I'm heading to Goodwill now to drop off a few things, which will help my totals a bit. I've listed a couple of things on Freecycle, too. Hopefully they get taken.

WOO HOO! I finally got all the donation items out of our house!!!

I looked up the phone number online yesterday to the thrift store where I was planning to drop off everything and found a ton of negative reviews on it. I didn't even know there WERE reviews for thrift stores! In any case, in one of those reviews, someone mentioned a great place near the original one I was going to call. I found that phone number and called. The girl I spoke with was pleasant and knowledgeable. When I dropped the items off this morning, the guy manning the collection area was very polite and appreciative. I usually have places pick up, but have dropped off at Goodwill before and they are less than polite or appreciative.

I had one box, one large shopping bag, one paper grocery sack, two plastic grocery bags, and two small shopping bags...plus a large item not in a bag or box.

I think I am done for the month although I do have more stuff to go through. We are expecting houseguests later this week and my DD's birthday party is this weekend (not in our home). I hope to finish the whole house in April! THANK YOU SCRAPDOZER!!! I appreciate being able to participate. This was motivating for me.

I donated about forty items to Goodwill, and bought a really cute skirt.

I just decided in the past week that I am going to try to move across the country next year, if all goes well. Knowing that I will be hauling this stuff across the country makes it a bit easier to let a lot of it go. Unfortunately a lot of the stuff that's easiest to let go of is the big stuff like furniture that I can't actually get rid of until I'm closer to being ready to move.

Can I join in even though I don't have the same type of goal as most here? My issue right now is paper. I have boxes and boxes of old bills, reciepts, and other misc stuff that we don't need to keep around anymore. The thought of getting started on this project is really overwhelming but I really can't put this off any longer. I've decided to just spend 20 minutes at a time on this. Will a goal like this really make it easier? If I just commit to stopping at the end of the 20 minutes and putting it out of my mind will it really feel easier? I can't wait to get this all out of my house!

My goal is to spend 20 minutes 3 days a week on this and to go through at least 3 boxes.

Goodwills coming tomorrow to pick up lots of items:

old blinds(was in store room)
bed frame and boxsprings(was in store room)

box of vases,candleholders etc
box of pottery,misc stiff
exersaucer

baby bath tub
file cabinet
stone side table and pedestal

and I threw away 1 bag of old candles and jars, 2 bags of old fabric swatches I had leftover from my old company.

Its feels so good and I don't want to stop. Amazing that one can give up so much stuff and still have more!!

Ok, well I keep saying "I'm gonna do it this month"... but this month I really am! I have been going through the tons of school papers we've accumulated from the 4 kids, as well as a lot of papers I've accumulated (why do I always think maybe I'll need that later? Ugh!). Today alone I've 4 large trash bags to go & 2 bags of clothes for donation. Tomorrow I hope to finish going through the papers I have within reach & shred. Then onto the garage..... which has many containers of stuff that we have not looked at in over 5 years..... I can't wait to go through & get rid of that stuff! I am looking forward to that "light" feeling

Yup!

Yesterday I dropped a box, large black garbage bag and a smaller bag of stuff at a charity. I have another pile accumulating. I wish I had more time and energy to focus on decluttering. At least I got a good start recently.
