DH got drunk last night!!!

Hi mamas,

i have been a quiet lurker for a while. i am so mad right now. i just need to vent. i am 37 weeks prego with dd #3. we are having a home birth and i think my husband is having some "issues". on tuesday he went surfing for like 5 hours (no phone of course), wedensday he went skiing (we live in so.cal. and had crappy cell phone coverage). well, last night his friends threw him a man shower. before he left i said please don't get wasted. he is not a big drinker at all so i wasn't that worried. he came at 1 wasted! i am so mad right now. i feel like i could throw a frying pan at him. i was up all night crying and feeling totally abandoned. my friend reminded me he kinda checked out before ds was born but of course he refuses to ack. anything is wrong. our midwife lives an hour away and i have pretty fast labors. also both my grilfriends/support people were out of town last night and my whole family lives back east.

wondering if anyone elses dp's are being total a**h***s before the big day arrives????? thanks for letting me vent.

: )

mama! There've been a couple similar stories floating around here. I think it's pretty common for the guy to freak a little right before baby comes. Not that it makes it any less hurtful! I hope you all can work it out!

I think I'm in labor right now, and mine freaked out on me when I told him I think our baby's coming today!! After all this planning he told me we should be in a hospital and that he thinks I'm a hippee for doing this!! I started crying too........Great timing bucko......too late now~

Mind you, we had our first son at a birth center and he was running on the treadmill while I was in hard labor because he was freaking out~

I think it's just the nature of some men!!! Remember to really use the WOMEN around you for support.......the men can be there just to watch!! haha

These stories make me nuts. My DH is too scared of my reaction to do anything like that. (I trained him well early on.) I don't really have any advice. I am very confrontational. I would have it out with him (especially if he currently has a hangover) and lay it out exactly what would have happened if something went wrong. Maybe some scare tactics will work?

Hang in there!

I could not deal with that. I'm sorry you mamas have to put up with crap like that. My ex moved out when I was preggo with #2, so I divorced him. I hope your guys are normally decent humans. I'd take New Nat Mom's advice and just go off on them. This is no time for them to be anyhting but your pillar of strength.

I'm sorry he did that to you. I would be very mad and tell him I hope he knows that's the last time he will be doing that for awhile so hope he enjoyed it.

thanks for all the support. i ripped into him and cried at the same time. i think/hope he gets it. he is doing laundry right now and just cleaned the kitchen unprompted (penance : )? all the wives are calling me to say please don't have another baby because there husbands are all hungover. one even slept in the bushes. i guess given a chance most men revert back to frat boy mentality! i just went for a long walk to the video store and plan to spend the afternoon in bed watching movies. he can take care of the kids. on a positive note the midwife is coming with the birthing tub!

Mine isn't getting drunk, but he's acting like he's insane. I won't get into details, but rest assured you are not alone.

I remember that with most of my friends, their DHs flipped out before the birth of their first. Just did weird things.

After my water broke with DD1, I had to drive to pick up my drunk husband who was at a poker game. He didn't want to leave the table as he had a good hand and he had money on the table. It just didn't click in for him that we *had* to go. Luckily, that experience left him freaked out enough that he doesnt' touch alcohol after I have reached 37 weeks pg.

Wow! So I am not the only one? My sweet husband and partner of 10 years who hardly ever does anything wild got "sick" drunk last week with the guys. And he didn't make it to the bathroom, either.

So you are not alone! Unfortunately, but at least you weren't cleaning up vomit at 2:00. Can this be the same man who makes me lay down and take naps?

I hope you don't mind that I am responding. I am not in your DDC but something simular happened when I was close to having #2. It was NOT fun. The result of what happened that night almost caused us our marriage (stuff that wasn't revieled until months later). But we made it. We now have #3 and have been married 10 years.

I just wanted to give you a "been there done that" hug.
