tjsmama~: for 7 miles on the tm!!! Those are so some loooooong miles when you're on the hamster wheel. Enjoy being snowbound with your ds! It sounds so cozy.

megs~: Uh, yeah, I know what you're talking about with the post bath leakage.

jooj~Hope your lamb is doing well! What a life you lead!

saskiamom~

to the new dingos!!

Dh and I went to my college roommate's wedding last night and had the best time we've had in months. It was so much fun to reconnect with old friends in such a romantic and festive setting. I wish I could bottle the feeling.

rr~I got out of sync with my training schedule but I'm hoping to be back on track on Tuesday. I did 40 minutes on the elliptical today and some weightlifting. We didn't get to bed (or, should I say, sleep ) until almost 2 a.m. this morning so I was dragging at the gym today. The fatigue was worth it though.

Love the shoes, Geo!

I am blessed with very mild cramps, if any, but have been getting psychotic pms! I think my husband just tries to survive that time of month.

So, I got to the gym to run my 9 mile long run yesterday (btw, Saskiamom!), and got 8.6 miles in, when the guy was coming around cleaning up to close down. I would have run about 2-3 minutes after closing, but he was so freaking pissy with me, I had to stop. I was so frustrated, and he was so rude about it too!: After that, I started feeling really ill. We had to run some errands, and had planned to go out to dinner. I wasn't able to eat anything, and actually had to run out of the restaurant to throw up in the parking lot. I spent most of the night hugging the toilet. And am still feeling yucky today, but no more puking, at least.

I'm hoping to feel better so I can run tomorrow.

Yay for baby lambs in the bathtub and 8 mile runs.

I feel like a slug!!!!

Had a crappy 4 mile run was mad at DH and it is hard for me to have a good run when I am in a negative place. The last half was good and I'm also less mad.

Pizza we make homemade pizzas at least once a week. We have made crusts in the bread machine that turned out well. Right now I am using the recipe from the california pizza kitchen (which is hard for me because I am from Chicago and we are just a little bit superior when it comes to pizza :
I once saw a thread on MDC about favorite homemade pizza and someone posted that they mix guiness, flour and I think salt. It was okay but DH hated to use a Guiness that way.

Hope everyone is having a good day. We are thawing a little here and it's cute to see all then new moms and dads pushing the babes around.

tjsmama - when you stretch and strengthen, what specifically do u do? Ive been pretty much doing the same weights routine since high school - gettin kinda bored, plus im an older lady now so think the stretching part should feature more prominently ... hell, so should the ab routine if i ever want to be americas next top model!! wtg on the tm!!!!!!!!!!!!!! no f-ing way could i ever do that!

Gotta go make some dinner now that babe is off my boob for aminute

it was a nice 75 degrees today - ooh i am looking forward to spring! i ran in the park this morning, but only for 2 miles since i have a left quad muscle strain from something [not sure what] and my left knee started to bug me too. better safe than sorry, so my plan to push myself to 5 miles today was thwarted.

lofty - are you headed to austin solo? or is the whole family going? i thought it was just you but maybe y'all are moving back to warmer weather for good?

off to make dinner and help ds with homework, such is sunday!

One other thing, did you all ever read about how "they" prohibited mp3 players and the like in the marine corp marathon (and others?) b/c it gave the listener an unfair advantage b/c the music could make you faster? Well, my friend's dh is a DJ and made me a work-out CD. Ive had it for months but just started listening, and seriously I am sooo much faster (my rpm's) and stronger on the bike. I am kicking ass and it feels easy - just from the music!

And nobody outside of Chicago understands, do they? We do have the best pizza.

As far as seeing the babes getting out, I was running at the gym yesterday, and watching ESPN college basketball. They panned to the crowd, and there was a little baby in a sling! Being carried by dad! The announcers were all, "How cute is that?!" and being so positive about it. Gave me warm fuzzies.

Do any of you wise dingos know how to hydrate without getting side cramps? I'm having a hard time with my longer runs (5 miles +) because I really need to have something, but always cramp up afterwards. What am I doing wrong? I'm only taking small sips when I drink, but it doesn't seem to matter.

So maybe I've just been waiting until too long into the run before starting to drink? I'll try it on my next run. Whenever that may be, as I am still fighting some sort of funky illness.
i thought that mp3 players are banned because you can't hear instructions or other racers if you're all plugged in...

powder day here. had a great morning snowboarding in sunshine and fresh snow. then we came home and went sledding - still enjoying the sunshine. great day, but i'm pooped and headed to bed.

Does anybody have goals for this week that they want to share? Here's mine:

5 runs (1 down, 4 to go)
5 weight workouts (1 down, 4 to go)

Today I ran 5 miles and lifted for chest. Woot!

Has anyone heard from RM? Did she run her race? Is her DS okay?
saskiasmom~My stretch/strengthen routine isn't very exciting. I usually go to the Y and do full body weights (chest press, shoulder press, leg/calf press, leg curl, leg extensions, rows, lat pulldowns, tricep pushdowns). I usually add on some exercises for the knee that's bothering me and then do some ab stuff. Before I finish up, I spend about 10 minutes stretching, mostly lower body (hamstring/it band/quads/hip flexor/calves/lower back).

pizza report~Pretty tasty! I used the dough recipe that comes with the kitchen-aid mixer. The texture was absolutely perfect, but it was kind of bland. The part that had sauce and cheese was yummy, but the end pieces were too bland to be worthwhile eating. I will definitely repeat, but need to spice it up somehow. Any ideas for how to add flavor without sacrificing texture?

My goals for the week:
4 runs (2 short, 1 track workout, 1 long), 22.5 miles scheduled
2-3 weight workouts
3 ab workouts
1-2 swim workouts

Wondering about RM here, too...

Hello everyone It's been awhile since I've been to the dingo thread. Life has just been crazy hetic here. School has been insanely time-consuming.

I'm currently training for a half-marathon in May. I'm up to 8 miles for my long run and this week I need to run 9. I'm hoping to get it in... I came down with the flu on Friday and am just starting to feel like a normal human being again. I'm not going to work today and will probably not go to class although I feel like I could sit through it... I just don't want to infect anyone else. I'm going to try to spend the day disinfecting my house and hopefully get some groceries. I haven't been off the couch in 3 days I have never had the flu before... now I understand what is so miserable about it!

My plans for this training/race season is to do this 1/2 mary in May, 2 sprint triathlons in June, 1 olympic triathlon in July, 1-2 olympic triathlons in August and then probably a 10K or 1/2 mary in September.

I have learned to swim... which was quite interesting. It was really hard and frustrating at first. I couldn't get from one end of the pool to the other without feeling like I was going to drown. Now I've swam up to a mile so far, with 1/2 a mile being nonstop.

Biking has been troublesome. I injured my knee on the bike and have taken a month and half off. I got new shoes and pedals, which are sweet and am taking it slow and easy so I don't hurt myself again.

Sorry so long and rambling... I am going to try to keep up here cause I miss this thread!
