I'm in Palm Coast/Flagler Beach.
Are there any mamas in the areas roun about? St. Augustine, Daytona... I even get to Orlando once a month and could meet someone at a great park for a little while.

Hi there! I'm over in Daytona. We love St. Augustine & head to Orlando a lot, too. Hope to hear from you!

Hi! We're in Palm Coast. I'm a WAHM to my 17 month old daughter Casey and I just learned that I'm expecting #2 in early November.

Wow. It's great to know there are two MDC mamas near me.

meredyth0315 and Carolann S are either of you natural and attachment parenting mamas? I've been feeling a little lonely in some of my views and it would really be sort of balm to me to know that there was someone nearby who felt similarly!

Hi, Tori.

I consider my family an AP family. We practice babywearing, breastfeeding and child-lead weaning, cloth diapering and gentle discipline. We do not co-sleep because my dh was always scared of crushing our baby. My dd wax vaccinated with everything until a few months ago when we decided to no longer vaccinate our children.
It is great to see other families nearby that have the same parenting style. Sometimes I feel like I get opposition in every direction with friends and family. It is so refreshing to find another mama like me.
Do you have a pediatrician you're happy with? We moved to Palm Coast in Oct and have yet to find one that agrees with our beliefs.
I'm looking forward to getting to know you better!

Hey Tori! I'd say we're pretty natural as well. And most of our family thinks we're crazy, but I feel the same way about them, I just don't voice it to not be rude

I adore our pediatrician, he doesn't impose vaxing, but I am interested to see how he feels about it after the baby is born in August and I am choosing to not vax. I'll have to update if we change He's up in Port Orange though and would be a haul for you guys in PC.

Well, that's got to be at least a couple points in your favor!

I only asked because I've been reading some of the posts in my DDC and... well, I've been so surprised and disappointed to see SO many very VERY mainstream plans and ideas there. (Especially with regard to the early ultrasounds, but also a few other issues that around 18 months ago it seemed more of the MDC mamas were very against.) Has there been a mass influx of mainstream Mamas to MDC that any of yall know of?? I was offline for 15 months because we couldn't afford internet at home and with 2 little ones using the library computers didn't work so well!

So, I'm thinking maybe we could get together. What do yall think? I don't go to PC very often, except for grocery shopping. I am planning to go to the LLL meeting on the last Friday of this month. Wow, is that this Friday already?? Maybe we could meet together at the PC Library around the end of that meeting.

So, I just checked my calendar and it IS this Friday. Wow... how time flies. Well, I'm going to try to be at the PC library that day for the LLL meeting. If yall want to meet up, maybe we could meet in the children's area. I think the meeting is from 11am until 1pm? I need to check that for sure. But maybe we could plan to meet at 10am or something like that. What do ya think?

Well, PM if you want to get together another time, specifically. Maybe we can organize it! Or, if you'd like to get together one on one, let me know that, too. I enjoy getting to know people, so one-on-one is sometimes better for that.

Ok, so I totally goofed. The LLL meeting isn't until the FIRST FRIDAY of each month. That makes it NEXT Friday from today. I also ended up feeling sniffly and stuffy-headed today, so didn't leave town until later in the evening. I've realized, with this pregnancy, that if I don't slow down when my body is hinting, it will STOP me in my tracks. I've been sick 3 times (like ill, not vomiting) already. And that was in the first 7 weeks!!!

I'm sorry if anyone had read my last post and was at the PC library!!!

However, it seems that maybe it wasn't seen. In which case, we could make a plan to get together This coming week. I'll be at the Flagler Beach Library doing crochet at 7pm in the children's area. I'm reteaching my librarian, Ruth, and she wants to begin working on an afghan! If you want to come and crochet with us OR learn (I love to teach!!!), come on out!!

Also, I do plan to be at the PC Lib on Friday.

Will I get to meet anyone???

You could check me out at Facebook, if you have an account, to see what I look like... and add a friend if you want. I'm listed as Victoria Farrell-Gollihugh (my legal name, actually).

Hi, Tori. I'll definitely try to make it to the library on Friday. I'd love to learn how to crochet. I used to do it years ago with my Grandmother when I was little. I have no idea how to do it now!
I didn't realize you were pregnant. I am too! I'm due Nov 6! This pregnancy is totally different from my first one. With my daughter, I wasn't sick at all. This one I feel sick constantly. I hope you're feeling better and look forward to meeting you on Friday.

Hey forbiddenpluto. What an interesting name... how did you come up with it? You're daughter is right between my two. Are you planning to homeschool?

Actually, how many of you are planning to HS? I've realized that many of my daughter's playmates will be unavailable this coming school year since their parents are doing the VPK thing. I need a HS group!

LOL. The sn is a long story. Very short story is that I used to work at WDW in the Entertainment dept. I've had the name forever and it just kinda stuck.

I can't hs. :/ I'm a single momma so I have to work. I work at one of the local high schools so thankfully I get all summer off to play with her. It's good though. She's incredibly social and I honestly don't think that she'd do well with homeschooling. We can only take so much of each other. LOL. That's the downside to having basically a mini replica of myself. LOL. I am certified to teach k-6 though, so that would have come in handy. I taught kindergarten before I landed my high school spot.

New one in the belly coming December

We haven't been in the area long but is there a good park in the area.

A place maybe with water play?

I think it would be fun to plan a get together for all those in the area to meet.
Hi, everyone! I haven't been around much lately. Going to the park or something similar sounds like a great idea. Unfortunately, I don't have any ideas as to where to go since we're relatively new here too. If anyone has any good ideas, count us in!

LOL....I just noticed that 4 out of the 5 of us who post on this thread are preggo.

Hey ladies!

To answer rstump: there were some plans a "Froggy Park" or something, but the lady coordinating it was offended by someone (or something... I'm not really sure) and stopped work on it. No one else has picked it up. So, in Flagler County there is no water play park that I am aware of. As for St. Augustine and Daytona, I wouldn't know. We aren't able to drive terribly much or often, so I don't know much beyond Flagler County. I would like to become more widely aquainted with the area, though. I've heard wonderful things about some play areas in St. Augustine... just don't/can't get there. I know there is one really neat looking play area off of A1A down south (in Ormond or Daytona Beach). It's a fire station themed place... maybe it's even behind a fire department. I see it on the way to my midwife's office, but haven't been there. No water from what I can see, though.

I would really enjoy the opportunity to meet you ladies and your kiddos. Perhaps we can have a sort of meet and greet. What do yall think of Saturday morning at 10am on August 30th? I would definitely be able to make it to the playground in Flagler Beach! It's right off of S. Daytona. If you're coming from Moody/100 it's a right turn onto the second street (S. Daytona... it's not labeled well) after you come over the bridge and the playground is on the right about 8 streets down. But if others of you would prefer somewhere else, I could suggest some playgrounds that are nice here in Flagler Beach... I just might not (probably won't) be able to attend.

What do you think?
