Why is my groin so sore? Anyone else?

I'm sorry so many of us are uncomfortable, but at least we have a nice place to complain about it.

I was able to sleep for a little while when I awoke to a contraction so strong that I could barely stand it and I was nearly in tears. But that was it - I had others every hour or so after but none that were that bad.

I'm afraid that I'm not going to know when real labor starts. I've been planning for a lovely homebirth with my midwife and DP in the fishy pool. I'm now having visions of a very undignified, spontaneous birth with no warning, unassisted, on the toilet.
Yep, could have written the same myself. Last time my labor turned on like a light switch; this time, I don't see how I'm going to know when I'm actually in labor. Yesterday I had 8 hours of 5-min apart ctx that felt like real labor ctx - early labor. I had to breathe through them etc. But after 8 hours they slowed down to about 20-30 min between each, and eventually just one an hour or so. It's very confusing. I feel like I won't know if I'm in labor until I hit transition.

I totally feel the same way. I keep thinking, ok, maybe this time this is "it," but it never is. I don't get it.

I have a new problem, too. A filling has come loose in my mouth and the tooth hurts like crazy. I'm pretty sure it needs a root canal (I had to have two since getting pregnant - I'm becoming an expert, unfortunately). And we don't have any money for a dentist right now; we spent it on the baby. I'm in a lot of pain and guessing I'm just going to have to suck it up for a few weeks/months.

I've become a sleep deprived zombie. My hips and shoulders hurt so bad I have to wake up to turn over every 45 min. Then there's the bathroom breaks. My hands and feet are swollen and uncomfortably hot. I wake up hungry at 4am but if I eat I have to go back to sleep sitting or else it all floats back up. I require so many pillows the comforter barely covers my sleeping mountain. Sometimes I'm not even uncomfortable but I just can't sleep. I basically only sleep out of pure exhaustion. I haven't been well rested for weeks... I too am looking forward to sleeping in my non-pregnant body... even with a newborn!

YES, ME, ME!!! Man alive sometimes I'll be walking along and actually fall on the floor because I get these numb/shooting pains down my groins and I can't hold myself up. My baby's head is so low in my pelvis that s/he is causing the nerves in my pelvis and below to go all funky. And forget about turning over in bed without my legs glued together!! I'm wondering with all the pain if I'll actually be able to hold my legs apart wide enough during labour to let the baby come through.

How about this for being preggo too long: I'm now officially jealous of my cats for being able to put out more pee in one sitting than I can!!

Not sure if by groin pain you're describing pubic pain, but I've had a lot of success getting help for Symphasis Pubis Dysfunction (SPD) this pregnancy from a Webster-certified chiropractor. Definitely worth a try if you have pubic pain. It's not 100% gone, but I can walk and function pretty much normally - thank goodness!

For me the groin is that bend where the crotch and thigh meet.

Count me in with the can-hardly-sleep group.

I can be dead tired during the day, fall asleep on the couch at the drop of a hat....but when it's time to go to bed, suddenly I've turned insomniac. Nothing is "working" anymore to get me to fall asleep. I can manage to have only 1 or 2 bathroom breaks in the middle of the night, but I can hardly convince my body to fall asleep before 3am anymore. I'm so grumpy in the morning when the kids wake me up at 8am.

just lurking from april ddc and i too cannot sleep. it's unreal. getting anywhere between 1-3 hours/night. nothing helps -- not even the benadryl sanctioned by my midwife!

the longer periods of sleep don't kick in 'til around 5 a.m., but i have to get up for work anywhere between 6:30 and 7:30 (depending on the day and if i took a shower the night before to save sleep time in the morning).

i'm on week three of this and am STILL having a hard time accepting this is what my body wants to do. god. i spend time wandering around the house from room to room, lying down & seeing if it'll work. for some reason my anxiety is less in the living room w/the tv on low. why? why not my cozy bed? why not the cozy bed in baby's room?

oh, and to add to it, my two days off/week i take a nap along w/ds1 & i usually have no trouble sleeping then. so clearly there is some mental and anxiety stuff going on that i just can't get on top of.

tried depriving myself of naps the first week or so, but the sleep didn't change, so now i take what i can get.

maybe this is some sort of weird prep giving me better perspective on newborn sleep patterns, like maybe it'll be BETTER when babe is here.
