I love the Red Russian. I plant it every year. It's so beautiful and grows so quickly (and large!). It's also always available through my local organic seed company.

I recently discovered dinosaur kale (huge leaves) and really like it. I am also a fan of ripbor kale. I've found them both easy to grow and cultivate.

I've only grown the red russian, but I've been very happy with it. It is very easy to grow, and (this is probably true of all kales), it will grow vegetatively. So last year when the leaves started getting a little too big/tough, I pulled it and chopped it into pieces. I was sloppy and left a few pieces of stem in the garden, and they rooted and grew into new kale plants just in time for fall. Lovely!

I'm a big fan of lacinato (dino) kale, but also love red russian and winterbor.

I've grown and saved seed from Frank Morton's wild garden kale mix. It's a pretty, diverse range of pinks and various leaf shapes.

I just wish my family would eat it when I cook it....
