Weekly chit-chat thread 3/2-3/8 - Page 2

Well this week has been going by slowly for me. I am ready for the next 8 weeks to go by! I really hate M/S At least it is nothing like it was with my dd, where it didn't go away till I was 28 weeks and I lost 18lbs. I think I might look in to getting a RX to help. On a good note, I really am feeling pretty decent, I just don't want to wake up to that feeling anymore.

Glad to see that everyone is feeling pretty well!

I spoke too soon. I spent the entire afternoon and most of the evening laying on the couch feeling like I was going to hurl at any moment. I'm lucky enough to have had a break from daytime nausea but I wish it wouldn't come back.

I'm sorry you weren't feeling well! I hurled for the first time today and let me just tell you it was wonderful...not! I do not miss that! I hope we all start to feel better soon!

I feel like doodoo today, the m/s has been a nuisance all friggin afternoon and now it's almost midnight and I'm still feeling pukey! GAH! All I have to say is Minute Maid Frozen Limeade is my best friend right now. I swear. Never thought anything like this would make me feel better, but it does.

And darn this pg brain! I thought while DH was out at his defense class tonight I would do the laundry. I didn't realize he had ALREADY DONE IT and I just spend the last 2 hours washing clean clothes. Isn't that brilliant?

I really need to look into getting some Zofran, maybe I could function!

I really want a garden, but our space and sunlight isn't condusive at all for it So I have to stick with shaded plants

You are so lucky you have your stash already! I am working building my up as we didn't start CDing our DD till she was 6 months. I am loving all of the little diapers though!

I really want to start buying cloth dipes, but DH is trying to keep the baby spending in check so far. I get it--it's still kinda risky to start buying things now. I haven't bought anything baby-related yet, although we did make a trip to Babies R Us to price some things--scary! I'm hoping I have very generous friends and family who will show up at my baby showers.
I ALSO love my Bravado Nursing bras they are so comfortable! I have also tried to keep the new baby spending to a limit but it isn't happening...hehe. We have the money right now to get the few things we need so I'm just getting them now

Today is a different story. I feel like absolute crap. I stayed in bed for about 2 hours after waking up because I thought I was going to puke. Ugh. DH is making me blueberry pancakes right now so we'll see how I feel after I eat.

I hope everyone is having a great weekend!
Yummy blueberry pancakes! My DH just made me some for dinner!

I really need to clean my house too! That was the reason the first month we were TTC I made sure the house was spick and span because I knew once I got preggo I wouldn't feel up to cleaning! Ah well, the plan didn't work too well, I'll try!

I really need to read my pregnancy journal, I always find I start falling behind. And LOL at the flippers! One of my preggo tickers says the baby is a size of a rice grain right now.

AH! I hate when I re-wash clean clothing! Unfortunately my dh doesn't do it too often, lol, so I don't get it too mixed up! Funny what things help us when were not feeling good! That limeade sounds good and refreshing!

Aren't DH so great! Mine has been so wonderful this time around!!

Oh and the Multi-quoting is pretty simple. All you have to do is look at the post that you want to quote then in the bottom right hand side of that post there is little quote symbols with a plus sign, just click that, and instead of the response post popping up it saves it. So do that to all of the ones that you want to quote and then Click Post Reply on the bottom left hand corner and then all of the posts will show up! And that is how you multi-quote! GL!
Oh I know how to multi-quote. I'm just too lazy and usually have nothing brilliant to say in reply to others' posts. I can blame placenta brain, can't I?

Hi Everyone! I wanted to jump in before it got too many pages in and too overwhelming to join. This is my first post in the October 2008 thread but I've been lurking for a bit.

A little about me...I'm from Nova Scotia, married to my high school sweetheart who is in the Navy and we have a beautiful daughter (12/11/05) and a handsome son (03/13/07) and of course number three due in October. I think that I am going to be relying on this board a lot for support as DH could possibly be leaving in a few weeks for the Gulf and be gone for six months. I'm kind of hoping that it falls through as this is probably going to be our last child and I don't want him to miss the whole pregnancy and birth but whatever will be will be.

As far as symptoms go, I've had a touch of m/s and I'm really tired but it doesn't help that I still nurse DS through the night and my DD has hit the wonderful two's and has started with nightmares. Night time is not fun in my house especially since I am doing it all by myself (DH has been away for a month but back at the end of the week )

I hope everyone is feeling great!

Well I'm 7 weeks 1 day today. MS is still here but overall had a good weekend. I still had some puking but not as bad at last week. Of course this morning was the first time I puked the yellow "bile"...blah. I'm eating saltines and hot cocoa right now. I seem to have an aversion to water this past weekend too. I usually love water but I just can't make myself drink it. I"m going tohave to add some lemon to it or something.
My appetite had def. increased, i'm hungry every hour on the hour...i just eat small meals but i'm so ravenous (sp?). Still trying to eat what sounds good. glad to hear those of you how are futher along are starting to feel alittle better, I can't wait to get to that point!
OH I discovered Pineapple this weekend...it's heavenly!! we'll see how long that lasts...lol!

The ACV is AWESOME for sinues stuff. Drink it with lots of water (and you can put a pinch of baking soda in it and mix with water if it is too acidic for your stomach). It thins out the mucus and you feel drainage right away - ongoing use can really clear things up. I once cleared a sinus infection that a round of antibiotics didn't do a thing for in only three days with ACV (taking small amounts throughout the day). I can't find anything that says it isn't safe for pregnancy.
I have a neti pot but I haven't gotten into a good routine of using it everyday. I just hate how my nose gets so congested at night! I'm too scared to do the ACV thing. I'm afraid it will just come right back up!!! :Puke

I have to try the frozen limeade. I've been drinking oj like crazy, but I think I need a change. I wish my DH would do the laundry. He won't even shovel the snow because he said it was too heavy. But someone has to do it and I'm suppose to take it easy this week!!

DH totally doesn't understand the having to eat every few hours thing! I literally wanted to eat dinner at 3 pm yesterday. My SIL is about 25 wks and she HAS to drink pineapple juice everyday. It's totally a pg thing.

I am now 6w 5d! : Everyday I feel a little more queasy. And my step-mom's reaction to that? GOOD! I'm thinking about telling my step-sisters this week, but one of them is a huge blabbermouth. And we are still nervous until we see that tiny little heartbeat again at the second u/s. I want to get back into my walking routine but I'm so afraid I'll have more spotting that I just find myself on the couch watching horrible sci fi movies about big foot and reading MDC. I also watched Cradle of Lies on LMN yesterday. OMG'sh that's a hilarious movie! : A guy needs a son to inherit 50 mil from his g-pa. But he's running out of time and needs one in the next 12 mos. And finds out his wife (that he doesn't love) his carrying a girl, so of course he tries to kill her. Maybe it's just my pg brain, but I couldn't stop laughing. Especially when the husband got a guy to give his drunk wife a massage (with a happy ending) and then just sits in a chair watching. And of course, she loves him so she freaks out when she figures out where the massage was going. Even DH was laughing at that. So yep, I've been watching A LOT of really crappy tv.

I'm 6w3d and felt incredible yesterday. I finally cooked some healthy food, took a nap, did laundry. It was great. Then I took a new prenatal, which I am blaming on feeling soooo sick last night. DH tried to snuggle and I told him to get off of me because I might puke. So romantic. Also, I have NO libido at all and he is starting to suffer. Oy. Hoping it picks back up soon.

I woke up this morning feeling awful, which I can't blame on the prenatal. After a smoothie, bagel and mint tea, I now feel like I can function. I'm hoping this subsides again.

Interesting. I've got absolutely no sex drive either. Usually, I'm one of those pregnant people who wants it all the time. I could caaaare less this time around.
I'm somewhere around 7 weeks, probably more like 6 weeks 5 days. I just got back from an appointment to confirm the pregnancy. Based on the date of my last period I am 7 weeks, 1 day, but since the return of AF after my son was born, my cycles have been really long (around 38 days). Based on when I think I ovulated, I'm 6 w, 5d. The nurse I saw today recommended I have a dating US, which I figured she would, and I was planning to decline it, but then the thought of seeing the baby's heartbeat and having some assurance that things are going okay so far was too tempting and I made the appointment for Wednesday. I didn't really think a dating ultrasound was necessary because I'm pretty sure I know when I ovulated, and I don't want to bombard the little bean with too many sound waves, but I really am looking forward to seeing him/her. I also made my first appointment with one of the midwives in the practice for Mar. 24.

I too am really tired all the time, and I'm having headaches and dizziness (had this with my first pregnancy too -- ugh). I am also having some nausea and times when food seems revolting even though I am hungry, but mostly I just want to eat constantly. I'm soooo hungry!! : I'm still nursing my son, so that probably has something to do with it. Also, in my first pregnancy my boobs were incredibly sore but this time only a little. I am starting to have some mild nipple pain while nursing though -- I hope it doesn't get too much worse.

My parents arrived at our house this morning and we're all going to my cousin's wedding on Saturday, which should be fun. My parents and DH's parents know about the pregnancy, as do three of my close girlfriends, but that's it and I'm not ready to tell anyone else yet.

I'm not interested in sex right now either and I really notice the cramping orgasm causes. I felt the same in the first trimester of pregnancy with my son, then after about 11 or 12 weeks and all the way up to about 35 weeks, I couldn't get enough of sex. So there is hope...

Hey there everyone! Jumping in here too before it gets to 3 pages!!! It's so great that we have such a large and active group and its going to be fun getting to know everyone. I had such a blast with my April Due Date Club back in '05, and there's still a group of us that keep in touch over on the Toddler board.

Well, I'm still not feeling PG! : I even puked all Friday night but it was just a stupid 24-hour stomach flu that my DD had on Wednesday night. I was almost wishing it was morning sickness! We go to dr appt on Thursday, I should be 7 weeks 6 days by then, so we should see a nice flickering bean on the U/S.

I'm going to try to get to the gym a few times this week, spending the day today getting caught up on STUFF - one of our cars has been broken down for weeks and I'm finally getting it towed over to the shop that is going to fix it.
I'm just gonna jump right on in here, HI I don't have any interest in sex, and it scares me, LOL. I think my sex drive went kaput about a week after I concieved, at least that's when I noticed it, I just didn't know WHY I had no interest. Right now it's probably a good thing too, lol.

The Minute Maid Frozen Soft Limeades are like italian ices/ice pops, but they're soft right out of the freezer. Sour things have really been helping me with the m/s, and I'm sure that's why these work. I actually brought 2 of them to work with me just in case -- and I might need one soon.

Other than that, today is DH's birthday (Yay, 27!) so our plans are to go out to Ruby Tuesdays for dinner, and I'm going to bake him a cake. Hopefully I feel up to dinner, I have had dry heaves all day and am only just able to eat a bit of pasta salad and BBQ Pringles (don't ask...)!

Add me to the list of us who wants nothing to do with sex. Poor DH, I just don't know what to tell him! Sorry? LOL!

In the big community garden in the greater backyard (there are 10 units on our property with a huge communal backyard and one big deer-proof garden for us all) we've got sugar snap peas going and are thinking about what else we want to grow. Definitely tomatoes and I love basil, but it's still a liiiittttllle early to plant everything around here.

Us too. We don't have a ton of $ and we really don't plan on getting much for the babe anyways - a car seat, a few slings, cloth dipes, and some clothes - but we're holding off till it gets closer to being a reality.

I'm love to hear from those with experience what they did for sinus drainage. The approved OTC allergy meds aren't helping at all - I desperately need a decongestant - the pressure is killing me and is leading to a daily headache. I hate to resort to going to my primary for an antibiotic, but I am getting desperate! Help, please!!
What I do for sinus issues is carry around a bottle of essential oil (my favs are eucalyptus or Niaouli). When I can, I just place it under my nose and try and breathe for a few breathes, usually I can get some temporary relief at the worst moments that way. Or I will boil some water, place 4/5 drops of the essential oil in a bowl, poor in the water, and cover my head with a towel over the steaming bowl of water. Make sure you close your eyes, but after a few breathes you will be breathing clearly. And it feels so lovely while you're there with the hot steam too. Again, it's only temporary, but doing these things as often as I can gets me through really bad sinus impaction b/c I don't like taking over the counter meds.

OMG, that it so totally me!!! I am completely clumsy and incredibly forgetful. It'd be funny if it wasn't happening to me all day long!

: Hello & welcome!!! Sorry to hear your Dh will possibly be gone, but these gals are a great support system! Congrats!

AAM: I just got back from a childbirth educator training this weekend that I and two of my girlfriends drove 5 hours to attend. The training was so-so, but we had an absolute blast!!! We stayed in a hotel and every night watched birth videos and chatted and giggled till we cried. I love women! It was also really great b/c they gave me a lot of newly pg attention which I've been lacking so far. They are both veteran Mommas so it felt very acknowledging that even though I'm only almost 7 weeks, I'm still a Momma and going through the life changing event of pregnancy. Very affirming.

And the m/s finally set in! I can't tell you how happy I am to have almost thrown up the past 4 days! It hasn't been bad enough to actually throw up, but there were times that only some seriously concentrated breathing kept me from it and having to try and force food down when my throat was doing that closed thing has been awful. But if I can manage to eat, then I feel better. I feel for you ladies who are actually barfing!!! Sometimes I think maybe I'd feel better if I just did, but I figure I'm not going to unless I actually have to!

I have an appointment with a midwife this Thurs. and I'm a little nervous! Going to interview her and I have one more I need to call and make an appointment for the same thing with. I don't know why I feel so nervous about involving a midwife, but I know that if she doesn't respect my choices so far then she's obviously not the one for me. I just really don't want to hear that someone thinks I've been irresponsible, yk? I KNOW that my herbs are providing me with more than enough vit & nutrients to equal a prenatal vit, but it's just not the norm to do it that way.

Anyways, I should already be working, but I got home at midnight last night and it's taking this perpetually tired Momma time to get going this morning! At least I make my own schedule and no one's waiting for me to show up.

Namaste ladies!
