I was thinking of doing some kind of knitting challenge. I read about a Lent challenge: 40 hats in 40 days, and I'm looking forward to the knitting Olympics. Any other ideas?

I don't know but I'd definately want to be in too!! I'm thinking some sort of sock making challenge would be cool. Or a shawl maybe?

wow, seriously? can people actually complete so many? that's amazing! how long does it take you to knit a hat? (i only crochet here, but I'm assuming there's a similar time requirement.) maybe only hats for newborns?

Maybe we could just have a challenge to try something new, whatever that is for each person. Maybe a sock, maybe lace, double knitting, entrelac, etc?

I just participated in a knit-a-thon that someone in my community organized for hospice. Everyone knit for 12 hours--10 a.m. to 10 p.m., or whatever portion thereof that we could--and made shawls, lap blankets, or squares for afghans. It was a really neat way to meet other knitters, and it was covered by the news.

Honeytree, I love your signature. . . .I want to live in a gulf state, but it's not looking probable.
Anyway, I'm up for a sock challenge. I don't have a lot of knitting time (like 2 minutes here and there), so I don't want something extremely difficult, but would love to get myself in gear.
