Not transverse, but not really vertex either... ideas?

Baby wants to come out my hip socket. He's had his head aimed at my hip for a month now, and no sign of budging. Despite his not putting any pressure on my cervix, it is ready to go, so as soon as this monkey can get his head in my pelvis, I think that will be it! How do I encourage him? I am going to the chiropractor tomorrow to see if she has any good ideas, but I am getting all stressed that he may never move. (I know he will come out one way or another, but I am not that rationally thinking person right now.)

Have you tried crawling around the house on all 4's? Doing some deep squats . .. . . . folks say these things help. I am actually trying to flip our girl, but yours is actually really close to the proper position. Hang in there!

Take a look at spinningbabies.com if you haven't yet. I would:

-see the chiro and possibly make an appointment as often as possible for the next few days/weeks however long til you're at 40.

-try doing hands & knees inversions every day for about 1 minute and then following that with a LOT of cat/cows (like 40-60) to help the little one move out of the funky position and into a better one. Supposedly this helps most if you do this when baby is active already (my baby likes to wiggle around at about 9 or 9:30 every night so that's when we've been working on positioning issues)

-have your dh practice sifting with a rebozo or other long piece of cloth. If nothing else, this is SUPER relaxing and after a few minutes you feel like you had a looooong massage!

-Generally I don't go in for visualization-type stuff but I've actually found it very helpful in dealing with our own positional issues, if only because it helped me to keep my focus and stay calm.

good luck!

Not in your DDC, but I'm in the exact same situation! I have been going to the chiro weekly and baby still prefers my left hip. And I have to say that I'm pretty comfortable. BUT that isn't the way out and I'm ready to get this show on the road!

"try doing hands & knees inversions every day for about 1 minute and then following that with a LOT of cat/cows (like 40-60)"

What exactly is this?

You can find them on the spinning babies website, but my attempt at describing them . . .

Inversion is when you get into hands and knees position but then bend at the waist so your elbows are on the floor and your forehead is on the floor . . . encourages baby to move up & out of a lodged poor position.

Then the "cat/cows" encourage the baby into the right position. You go back up on all fours (not bending forward anymore) and keep your back straight. Bend your back upwards and back to level. Do not let your back sag downwards. Just from level, up, level, up, level, up etc. So you look kind of like a cat stretching its back up in a ^ shape, then back to -. HTH!

Thanks for your description Romana9+2! I can't do any better Here's more info on inversions (a deeper version of the hands & knees inversion) and here's more info on the cat/cow pose, aka pelvic rocking.

I find the spinningbabies site to be a little hard to navigate sometimes so maybe it helps to have actual links to start from! hth!

Thanks for the ideas. I've been doing the inversion and cat/cows. Baby is still toward my left hip, but I don't think he is posterior anymore, so that is progress. Went to my parallel care provider today--a family doctor who is brilliant and who I trust--and she said it didn't feel as if there was anything preventing baby from easily slipping to mid-line when the time comes. That was reassuring to hear. In the mean time I will be crawling around my house on hands and knees along with DS.
