Just gotta keep the brain out of it...

I kept chanting to myself silently "I can do it, I can do it, I can do it"
I know you can do it. Remember to soak up the rests, totally let yourself enjoy them, they're amazing!

Semi-thread-jacking here...forgive me.

I feel your pain. Literally. I don't know how much more I can take. I started having ctx 5 mins apart last night at 10 and it's been like that since then. 17 hrs. Not that i'm counting. About 2:30 I lost my mucus plug (a massively large thing, btw), and then things slowed down. I'll have a couple 3-5 mins apart, then nothing for almost 20 minutes. And when I do have them, they hurt so much. The last one had me in tears. I don't want to go to the hospital any sooner than I have to. They'll want to either break my water or give me pitocin to move things along, both of which are bad ideas for my VBAC. I'd kill for an epi right now, but I know getting one increases the odds I'll need pitocin.

It hurts so bad. I seriously don't know what to do. 17 hrs is too much.

YOU CAN DO IT MAMAS! You can you can you can you can...I remember when I started to cry and moan and say "NOOOOOOOO!' that my midwife and DH told me to say "yessss!" It didn't always happen, but just know that you will be holding your babies soon soon soon. I stayed stuck in my head way too long. Try to trust your bodies-- they are amazing miracles, and they will carry you through this. You can do it. We are cheering you on from near and far....take it one at a time and believe in how strong you are. We all do...

You can do it!!

Can your labor partner squeeze your hips? Our childbirth educator called this the "double hip squeeze." DH and my doula doing this got me through 18 hours of back labor. Nothing else worked.

You get on your hands and knees. Have your labor partner squeeze your hips together as hard as possible. Have him move his hands and squeeze in different places until you find a place that works. Later, we were able to do this with me sidelying and him pushing down on the upper hip.

Best wishes to you!!

You Mamas can totally do this! It is weird how surprised I was at how painful they were! I had 24 hours of back labor and I chanted through every ctx with a low "om" sound and sometimes, "Open". And DP and my doula rubbed my back or squeezed my hips through every one, like ASusan said, which really helped. Also, try the shower. And if you have a birth ball, you can squeeze it into the tub and sit on it.

And remember, at the end of this is a beautiful baby. Sending ELV! good luck!

Instead of "you can do it" I'm saying:

"YOU ARE DOING IT!!!!

You are amazing strong mamas and your babies know what they are doing.
My doula told me, "your body gives you exactly what you can handle."

Hope your babies are in your arms soon!

Stay strong Mama's! We are all thinking of you! You can do it and in the end you will have a sweet little baby in your arms, so, it is all totally worth it! Big : and ELV to you all tonight!

Don't be afraid, that'll help the endorphins flow. In my birth class notes it has a note for my husband that says "allow her to finish the contractions to help endorphins flow". So telling everyone to be quiet can help.

This is a quote that I came across today that really touched me. I'm going to put this up where I can see it when I'm laboring:

The power and intensity of your contractions cannot be stronger than you, because it is you.

that's the mantra I used...it worked to keep me relaxed and mostly pain free until transition (when I lost it completely)

steph and OFG... thinking of you both and hoping all is well!

You're doing this. You really are.

If it's any help, for me the early bit of labour whilst the ctx are still establishing themselves are the most painful bit. Not the strongest, no, but they hurt more.

Happy birthing!
