Small knitting projects?

Thread Starter
Can anyone suggest some (easy, beginner-friendly) knitting projects that require 2oz of yarn or less? I have a lot of small balls of yarn that vary in type, texture, etc. They're all different, so I don't think it would be good to combine them into one bigger project, and the colors don't coordinate well.

Thanks!

PS -- I can sort of crochet, not very well, but crochet projects would be cool, too, as long as they're very, very newbie friendly.

Got any machine washable yarn? I plan on doing some of those tomorrow.

Washrags for the kitchen! These are simple to make and great for cleanups!

Here's a pattern similar to the one I use.

I also make them in different sizes for washcloths for baby gifts and add to pamper baskets. Plain old cotton yarn. Good stuff!

Ooh, thank you both! Those are great and look easy enough for me.

Several of my patterns use very small amounts of yarn:

If they are all from prior projects of yours, "The Yarn Harlot Casts Off" has a recipe for makinga knitter's retrospective blanket, even if all the yarns are different weights.

I'm knitting a potholder at the moment. It's all different colors and they all run together, but it still looks good. Variegated like.

Do you have a link for that?

I've been looking for knitted patchwork patches patterns, to make an interesting blanket from leftover bits.

Oh! Those are awesome! I think maybe adding a strap to help keep them on would make them nearly perfect!

I'm absolutely going to make these! Soon! Really!
